February 11, 201412 yr Commercial Member I want to try TileProxy these days for some slow GA flying, but it is an old proggy, and I know only that there is a problem with the services (GE or Bing). What is the status now? Services working? 10mbit download is enough, with FTFF=0.50? Thanks! EDIT: TikeProxy *facepalm* instead of TileProxy.... February 12, 201412 yr haven't used Tileproxy for a while and the author no longer supports it. However, as far as I know, the Yahoo and Bing maps services still work and I think someone suggested a service configuration for a Scandanavian provider too. If you use Windows 7 or 8 then it can be tricky to bypass the unsigned driver issue though. I tried to use it the other day and could not remember how I originally overcame this problem but most of the suggested solutions did not seem to work. IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
February 12, 201412 yr Yeah I haven't used it for a while but agree with Ian, it should still work fine on things like Bing/Yahoo maps. Having to hit F8 on boot to disable digital device driver signing (or whatever it was called) was a bit annoying.
February 12, 201412 yr It works fine. I use it every time I fly. Bing Maps and Yahoo both work, but Bing seems to provide better coverage at higher resolutions. I have a 50 mb connection and it keeps up just fine. Start with this excellent TP tutorial here: http://www.edtruthan.com/tileproxy/tutorial/index.htm Also, don't forget to put the latest map version in your TP.ini. You can find the map versions here: http://aviation.allanville.com/tileproxy/ You can get around the Win7/8 unsigned driver issue by installing Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider (DSEO). There are instructions on how to configure it somewhere on these forums (maybe the TP one). It eliminates having to boot into the F8 menu before playing. I use mine with FS Global 2010 for the mesh and UTX for the roads. Above 2000' its completely amazing. Transformed the game for me. Before, the scenery was an approximation of my town, but now it's actually my freakin town. So much better. And if you want to fly at night with street lighting, just disable TP in the Add-On menu. FSX will revert back to whatever scenery you have installed. Good luck!
