FSUIPC to Run LUA script, where?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I have the latest and registered version of FSUIPC4. Recently I saw an lua script that can set Vref for the Majestic Q400 automatically. The readme says put the lua file and the speed data file into the fsx/modules folder  "Assign the lua to a key press in FSUIPC". I put the files in the folder but was unable to figure out how to assign the lua script to a key press.

Can anyone help with this?

Thank you,

Zicheng Cai

Here you go, just drop your Lua into the Modules folder and select it in Fsuipc on the buttons page if using a joystick button

Or the keyboard page if using a keypress

Sorry but I was still unable to locate the control. I have went through the list but found no Q400VSpeeds there. Any idea please?

Thanks and please see screenshots.

The Readme.txt that comes with the lua files clearly states that "it will be listed as "Lua Q400VSpeeds"

Despite not owning the Q400 I have just copied this lua into my modules folder along with speeds.dat and just as the readme states there it is listed in Fsuipc

Hello All

I have copied the 2 files for the Vspeed calculator into the modules folder and selected it from the dropdown menu and assigned a key press after loading the q400 as per instructions and I press the shortcut key the only thing that comes up is reading vspeeds nothing else at all. Do I need another program for this to work like Linda. I have a fully registered and latest version of FSUIPC. Any help would be appreciated as it takes me longer to set up the Q400 than the PMDG /Aerosoft Aircraft.

I have selected the Lua Q400Vspeeds should I selected Lua Clear Q400VSpeeds, as in the screen shot above?

The following is from the FSUIPC Lua documentation:

Lua <name> to run the named program

LuaDebug <name> to run the program in debug mode (more below)

LuaKill <name> to forcibly terminate the named program, if it is running

LuaSet <name> to set a flag (0-255 according to parameter) specifically for the named program to test

LuaClear <name> to clear a flag (0-255 according to parameter) specifically for the named program to test

LuaToggle <name> to toggle a flag (0-255 according to parameter) specifically for the named program to test

LuaValue <name> to set the ipcPARAM variable to the given parameter, or the axis value when so assigned

There’s also a general Lua control “Lua Kill All” to forcibly terminate all currently running Lua programs.

I don't know anything about the Q400, but it would seem it is the Lua <name> function that you would want to use.  I have found it is easy to select the wrong Lua function from the list unless you are careful.

Thanks Al, if you see Glynn's screenshot above I have selected the Lua Q400VSpeeds not the Lua clear Q400Vspeeds as highlights.Once I have set up the plane as per instructions in the Lua VSpeeds read me when I hit the Tab+Q the Lua script pops up and all it says is reading Vspeeds, it should have a flaps take off lines in the display to click on eg flaps 5,10 etc.. this isnt showing up. When working properly as a video I have seen when you click the flaps take off line eg 5 it puts the V speeds into the Q400 speed bug after hitting enter. Do I have to have Linda installed as well? sorry the Lua scripts are new to me.

Thanks again for your reply.

It looks easy but I cant get it to work, maybe Ive missed something in the set up of the plane

One thing I would carefully check is the Q400 setup options. You may have to enable the showing of V speeds on the speed tape, etc. I can't say much else since I don't have the Q400, but I know with the PMDG 737NGX there are lots of setup options.
