  1. Re installed repaired fsx with antivirus off and still get fatal error when programming the gps test was done on the default trike.
  2. Hello Jim the aircraft affected are all stock standard planes and all other planes that use the pop up GPS like Carenado Real Air the list goes on... Planes that have to be flown with the FMC are fine. This applies to choppers as well. It happens even If I zoom down in the vc and programmed it that way as well I have FSX Acceleration Gold, Ive also started having trouble with auto run Orbox vector it wont disable the Airports that need AEC correction can do it manually but its a nuisance. Ive check out orbx forums done a re install as they say but still have problems with Vector as well. Ill try re doing that as well with antivirus off. thanks for your advice, Ill report back once I do the repair and re install.. I have the GTN 750 installed as well in some planes, I haven't checked that out with GL installed. I have had GL working before once. I had to do a re install of windows OS recently, and with that a full re install of fsx.
  3. Thanks Jim Ill try re installing it German Landmarks with my antivirus turned off. I didnt know that about fsx though Ive just done a complete re install of fsx about 350 GB so dont really want to do a full re install.I guess I could do a repair with the anti virus off.
  4. It's with any aircraft Jim Carenado, default aircraft etc. The only aircraft not affected is anything with an FMC like PMDG and Aerosoft Airbus. FSX is the sim all UAC are disabled, antivirus was not disabled during install .OS Windows 7 Professional
  5. Hello Fellow simmers Just got a question. I have installed Aerosoft German Landmark x however when I go to programme the GPS eg I click the D with the arrow through it then when I click the gps knob to enter a destination I get a Fatal error. Does anyone know how to fix this problem. Ive un-installed the scenery now and no fatal error when I touch the gps. It looks a great addon but no good if I cant fly with it. I dont have German VFR airfields. If anyone has had this problem and solved it , I would appreciate how it was fixed.
  6. Hello Pilots I have not long installed a SSD 1TB as my HDD was getting full I got a computer shop to install the new SSD and also a clone .PMDG aircraft worked fine, anything from flight1 I had to do a re install everthing else worked fine in fsx . Im now formatting the old HDD drive and would like to move my sim objects and some other fsx programes like flightsim commander rex etc to the HDD with a junction link either with CMD or a Junction link program, I guess my question is will all my aircraft still work with a junction link to fsx on the ssd including pmdg,Ai aircraft and other payware aircraft, also do I need to edit my fsx cfg file. Appreciate any advice.
  7. See this link for Q400 Video using the Lua script
  8. Thanks Al, if you see Glynn's screenshot above I have selected the Lua Q400VSpeeds not the Lua clear Q400Vspeeds as highlights.Once I have set up the plane as per instructions in the Lua VSpeeds read me when I hit the Tab+Q the Lua script pops up and all it says is reading Vspeeds, it should have a flaps take off lines in the display to click on eg flaps 5,10 etc.. this isnt showing up. When working properly as a video I have seen when you click the flaps take off line eg 5 it puts the V speeds into the Q400 speed bug after hitting enter. Do I have to have Linda installed as well? sorry the Lua scripts are new to me. Thanks again for your reply. It looks easy but I cant get it to work, maybe Ive missed something in the set up of the plane
  9. Hello All I have copied the 2 files for the Vspeed calculator into the modules folder and selected it from the dropdown menu and assigned a key press after loading the q400 as per instructions and I press the shortcut key the only thing that comes up is reading vspeeds nothing else at all. Do I need another program for this to work like Linda. I have a fully registered and latest version of FSUIPC. Any help would be appreciated as it takes me longer to set up the Q400 than the PMDG /Aerosoft Aircraft. I have selected the Lua Q400Vspeeds should I selected Lua Clear Q400VSpeeds, as in the screen shot above?
  10. How do I get Lua to work in the fsx do I need Linda as well as Fsuipc. I have put in the V speed calculator for the Q400 but all it says is reading vspeeds nothing else, I have a fully registered version of Fsuipc. Any tip appreciated
  11. Not sure about P3D Albix only have ever had FSX, Nick from PMDG has a very good PDF on un installing and re installing fsx, just google it on the web sorry I cant remember where it came from might have been from AVSIM. Sorry Albix I thought you were referring to installing fsx in its own folder out of program files. The Citation handles nicely but I don't have P3D I have got to like the plane very quickly. Not too bad on frames if you have a reasonable GPU and PC
  12. FTX as mentioned also Aerosoft produce some very nice airports and scenery addons and areas that are compatible with FTX. If you haven't put much back into fsx yet. I highly recommend doing an un install out of program files-program files (86) . Just make up a folder called FSX or something like that on your main drive and point all addons to that. PMDG recommend it, I had to do it as I had scenery issue, it was a huge job for me but worth it getting better frames better scenery etc
  13. I have had better frame rates since re installing fsx in its own folder outside program files its a big job when you have a lot of addons but worth it PMDG recommend it for their planes, I have tweaked the fsx config file as well a bit. Interesting post though Craig I had problems with scenery so I was forced to do the re install, not by choice but glad I did. scenery is much more crisp I reckon I am seeing some things I hadn't seen before.
  14. Server is where FSX runs or P3D the client is where active sky runs. Only the SDK should be on the client pc NOT FSX/P3D as well. There is a very useful video on setting up fsx on a network by Froogle. Hope this helps Cheers
  15. Carenado Citation ILS landing achieved perfect. NZTG to NZAA. Put the Carenado 337 GPS in as a pop up (go to Views> instrument panel and select GPS there) set up route from that, It actually copied it to the fmc except 1 thing you need to select the runway for landing in the fmc as well as the GPS Tuned the ILS frequency and made a perfect cat 3 landing. Peppy197 If you bring up the autopilot pop up panel, down the bottom there is a set knob click on this and use your mouse wheel to select the desired altitude, then click on ALT SEL when the aircraft has reached its set height then it will automatically switch to ALT-this holds the plane at the selected height till you alter it again, if a different height is set after cruise say for descent then you need to click ALT SEL after the change has been made. Use the trim on the autopilot to change the VS. hope this helps.
  16. I bought the Citation yesterday have done a couple of flight, still yet to try an ILS approach, was disappointed that there was no GPS included or at least the fmc have the frequency for the runways ect. I am going to put in the 337 GPS for the time being as a pop up until Carenado have a patch to fix the bugs. Very nice to fly otherwise and great detail better landing lights than the Phenom excuse the spelling errors :o I agree there should have been a GPS as Cassio's link
  17. Thanks for the info Jim I'm sure it will help others as well. I had a reply from Hifi this morning and they said to start FSX first then Active Sky Next and shut down FSX first then shut Active Sky Next. I have just tried the recommended way as mention above by Hifi for start up and shut down, 4 times and each time its shut down and then re started it connects to FSX. I don't shut active sky down if its downloading weather or even attempt too, I know it wont shut anyway but to be on the safe side I let it finish downloading first. I also wait till fsx has shut completely and ASN says waiting for simulator in orange text. I think I will follow Hifi recommendations and see how we go. For those that have Ezdok camera set up like I do, sometimes it stops working I have got around this by having the launch icon in my task bar so I can re launch it, this doesn't happen always only sometimes, I have V 1.17. As to IP change in the PC that fsx is on, a static IP will be the way I will go I need to do this today, for those that don't have a static IP like myself yet. You can go to the control >network and sharing centre, then click on local area connection then click on details, in the IPv4 section this is the address of your pc, which if has changed then you need to edit this in the XML file on the server as well as the simconnect on the client in my documents flight simulator files if you as familiar with it a Jim says. IPv6 maybe listed there as active as well, I go by the IPv4 That should be your FSX computers IP even though to get my network to work I had to get my ISP to enable IPv6.I thought I would put this other way of finding out your PC's IP if you are not familiar with Command prompt (cmd). Jim may like to add a comment here as well for the IP subject as he knows more about this than I do. Thanks for your support Jim Hope these posts help other having trouble with Active Sky Next. Cheers Q Captain In my post above it should say control panel > network and sharing centre......etc sorry
  18. Just had a look at how to set up a static ip and it looks fairly easy  Ill sort that tonight, may need some help from my ISP Many Thanks Again Cheers Q Captain
  19. Thanks Jim That's very interesting, I do have my active sky next set up on the laptop and I only have the one network in the house which only has 2 pc's shared, the laptop and the desktop-which is where my FSX is installed on, I guess ,only guessing that if I had an Ethernet cord plugged into my laptop like the desktop pc is then the IP of the pc's would rarely change, please correct me if I am wrong. Yes you do have to know how to use the CMD I only know a small portion of how to use it, mainly the ip config part as mentioned. Much appreciate your help with confirming the start up procedure with Active Sky Next, do you do the same for shut down as well, shut ASN first then FSX? I don't want to mislead others as I have only had ASN for around a month to 6 weeks and have been scratching my head for solutions to get it to work every time for me and I think I may have it sorted, time will tell. Cheers Q Captain
  20. Hello Jim I do think you are right as I said Im not a pc wiz at all, I realise everyone's system is different, Im sorry I should have made that comment also glad you bought my attention to it and for others to see. I have a netgear router and am on ADSL 2 + in Australia. Its only what I have found that has fixed the connection issue for me if simconnect doesn't work or active sky isnt connecting, that's the first place I look at. I only check my servers IP not the client. If it has changed as Ive mentioned then to get simconnect to work that's how I go about fixing the problem. I guess the main reason for my post was finding the correct start up and shut down procedure for Active Sky Next. so it works how its meant to over a network. My IP usually stays the same on the server unless as Ive mentioned we had a power blackout last night which changed the ip. I run the client wireless and yes that does change, I know this from when I used to have a server set up for flight simming online if someone couldn't connect then it was usually the ip had changed on that pc and I had to edit the ports in the modem router. Thanks again Jim Cheers Q Captain
  21. Hello Flight simmers I would like to share my experiences with a networked Active sky next SP1 connection over a network. I'm no pc wiz by any means and setting up a network isn't easy, there are tutorial's on the internet which I found useful. I too have been having trouble with getting active sky to connect to my server (fsx flying simulator) I have only just upgrade to SP1 after trying the beta version which didn't seem to work for me now its a full release not beta. What I've discovered today is what seems to be the correct way to start active sky next and shut down procedure. I had ASN running fine on Saturday then I shut fsx down and ASN said fsx connected still. As Francesco has found out, you DO have to start fsx up first and wait till you have the default trike spinning around THEN start Active sky next. For shut down, I have discovered that if you shut active sky next down first then fsx, the next time you want to use Active Sky Next it should connect if the correct start up and shut down is followed as I have described above. I repeated the process twice to see if it would connect to fsx which it did. I am waiting on a confirmation email from Hifi to confirm if I'm right, so far so good if they say otherwise then I will repost. I am using Windows 7 64bit on both server and client. One thing to watch if you don't get a connection is to check the ip of your server (FSX) to do this type in cmd into the search programs and files bar on windows 7 then once this is open next to the flashing cursor type ipconfig then hit enter on your keyboard. you will then see 2 sets of ip numbers the first one will be the ip of your pc and the last one the ip of your modem router. IF this has changed you will need to edit the xml file in address section and ALSO the simconnect cfg file on you client pc to match the new ip of your server pc (FSX) Make sure to close the cmd before editing any files. This may happen after a power blackout, I has to me as we had one last night and I had to edit the last number in the xml file to 6 instead of 7 and like wise the simconnect cfg file in the address section on the client pc to the same number 6 instead of 7. Hope this helps and make sense. Its frustrating when you buy a program and you find it hard to get it to work. :( Cheers Q Captain  Hello again I should have made it clear that your computer pc can change not the modem router this is the first number eg 192.168.0.9 this is then typed into where it says address in the xml file and also on the client pc simconnect CFG file where you have active sky installed. The number I have given WONT be your number its only as an example. Hope this is clear . Cheers Q Captain.
