February 27, 201412 yr Hello, I'm new on FSX and since I got on the FSX I have some problems with the NGX sound. It's simply too loud. I fly online for VATSIM/IVAO and it's sometimes hard to understand what ATC wants to tell me. The engine/cockpit and cruise sounds are sooooo loud that they make me feeling sick in my head. I already tuned the volume manual down at some specific files like "wind" with Nero. But it still doesn't really help. Tuning the sound via the FMC menu doesn't help too as this will not effect things like "engine,wind,APU,...". Is there maybe a problem with my installation? Is there a fix/user files available? Greetings Greetings Eddi

Often the issue is that you're trying to cram all of the sounds through one channel. Your brain isn't quite used to that. Additionally, there's only so much a speaker can do, in terms of overlaid sounds. The best avenue is to have a headset for voice, and your computer speakers for sound. You can actually tell FSX (and Squawkbox/FSInn) to route voices to one sound device (headset) and all general sounds to your speakers. This will vastly improve the situation without requiring you to edit the sound files. Kyle Rodgers
February 27, 201412 yr It might be a problem with FSX itself. I had this problem too, but I just reduced the engine sound volume in the FSX sound settings. I put it to really minimum possible, and it worked.
February 27, 201412 yr I took the Voice to Headset/everything else to speaker and that was the perfect balance. Great advice! Rob Marton
March 1, 201412 yr That's the way I have it set Kyle, but I went through introduction manual on sound settings cause i can barely hear the seat belt sound and the chime sound, you have any idea how to get it louder? Louis Massicotte Caroline Alberta
March 3, 201412 yr Author I fixed that problem now...the sound which make the flying with ATC nearly impossible was an AI sound from the IVAO MTL. I don't know why but it was played all the time even with no traffic around and in the air I recognized that after I wanted to fly with the DA Fokker 100 and had the same sound even when I mute the FS sound. The AI sound is located in the STD B738 folder and I simply renamed it to _off F:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\B737_800\soundai_off Greetings Eddi

That's how it's supposed to sound. The ding is in the cabin and the cockpit door is closed. It's going to sound very muted. Kyle Rodgers
