March 5, 201412 yr Commercial Member Hi, This is weird, and bugging me now. Last night the aircraft was flying as if I'd kicked the rudder slightly, and was flying in a slip, but this was not the case, and the slip indicator was centered. There was a pronounced roll 1 degree to the left. Aircraft was on autopilot. I could kick the rudder and affect the yaw, but even applying what appeared to be a correction only caused the slip indicator to kick out, though it did level the wings. Other oddities included the aircraft deliberately flying off track (it wasn't happy unless it was 1.3 nm to the LEFT of track). Hand flying made no difference - FD bars commanded a left roll to fly me off track (offset track was NOT in operation). After landing I checked the INS alignment and it seemed OK (note that I flew the aircraft from the state it loaded in, so the IRS was already aligned - I did not do an alignment myself). That said, if it had been an IRS problem, I'd expect it to want to track to zero cross-track error, but this was not the case. It also always spirals to the left when approaching waypoints (less than 1 nm distance). This appears to be some oddity with the computation of relative bearing within the flight guidance however (some equations will spiral to unity). Does anyone see any/all of the above? I was flying in clear weather so wind/weather engine was not a factor. Best regards, Robin.
March 5, 201412 yr Next time try pressing the D keyboard button. Correct gyro drift, may help may not. Of course if you have a 150knt xross wind it wont help.
March 5, 201412 yr Commercial Member Does anyone see any/all of the above? If it's not weather (thanks for trying to rule that out first), my next thought is the registry repair tool. Reg errors seemed to cause issues for me (and others) and manifested in similar ways in the past. Kyle Rodgers
March 5, 201412 yr Author Commercial Member Reg errors seemed to cause issues for me (and others) and manifested in similar ways in the past. Interesting... Any recommendations? FSX is vanilla (Acceleration) except for a few aircraft (PMDG MD-11, 777, MJC Dash, and A2A C172). Best regards, Robin. Next time try pressing the D keyboard button. Correct gyro drift, may help may not. Of course if you have a 150knt xross wind it wont help. Hi, Gyro drift is disabled (it's unrealistic) and wind will not affect lateral offset or aircraft roll/yaw behavior in any way. The aircraft doesn't know or care about wind, and wind only affects ground speed and wind correction angle in order to fly a certain track across the ground, nothing else. Relative wind is *always* from the front in straight and level coordinated flight. Aerodynamically, it makes no difference whether it is there or not. Best regards, Robin.
March 5, 201412 yr Commercial Member Interesting... Any recommendations? Flight1 Registry Repair tool - copy and paste that into Google and it'll be one of the first hits. I'd provide a link, but the firewall here hates a lot of the sim sites, unfortunately. Kyle Rodgers
March 5, 201412 yr Hey Robin.. I have seen some weird off path approaches and stuff in the MD-11.Reg fix worked like a charm. Rob "Sponge" SzymanskaOwner of: PMDG 737/747/777/MD11/J41. LD 767. Aerosoft Airbus X Extended. Majestic Dash 8 Q400. And many more. Vatsim Hours: 1000+
March 13, 201412 yr @OP well i Never heard any one have that problem with the MD-11 From PMDG But I can tell you That the Avro RJ85 from Quality wings Sid that to me and many other members had the same problem with the RJ85 There is only 2 reasons that a aircraft will do that One the Aircraft is not programed good ( or i should say Not finished Like the Quality wings Guys They Just resealed it too soon with full of problems ) Or 2 you have a very old FSX witch I also ran into this Problem before , therefore to solve every thing I stopped flying the RJ85 and I bought me a Fresh copy of FSX Deluxe So Since every one here is flying the MD-11 with fun and Joy and no one has had your problem with the md11 I would say your Problem would be Number 2 I wish this info is useful if not O well BTW Try different airports and if you find that the MD 11 acting strange in specific ones and not all then i would say 100% your problem is FSX not MD11 Because that what the RJ85 did to me there was a few airports where it just wont Line up no matter what i did Firas Salim"The joy of being is the joy of being conscious. March 14, 201412 yr Flight1 Registry Repair tool - copy and paste that into Google and it'll be one of the first hits. I'd provide a link, but the firewall here hates a lot of the sim sites, unfortunately. This is the likely solution. I reinstalled FSX 2 weeks ago, and my first MD-11 flight afterwards was offset. The Flight1 registry repair tool fixed that. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
March 16, 201412 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks guys. I flew it the other night and all seemed OK. Very odd. Best regards, Robin.
