Got any secrets on how to take-off and land tail draggers?  I got the C-195 recently and my takeoff and landings leave MUCH to be desired.

Rob - most people not familiar with taildraggers make a few common mistakes.

If the model you are flying has a tailwheel lock - get lined up before locking

dial in about 3 degrees or moreright rudder trim - depending on model

ease the throttle forward smoothly using rudders to keep nose straight

have stick at neutral or slightly back

let a/c tell you when it wants to fly and let the tail come up - hold it there for a few seconds and let the a.c fly off.

Landing is a little different -

Speed is more critical in taildraggers - you can float forever if you are too hot.

Establish your approach speed and attitude and use throttle to control rate of descent

Some aircraft land better if you are in the 3 point position others you land slowly on the mains and let the tail come down.

If you watch td's landing IRL you will see a lot of left-right-left-right action of the rudder - sometimes almost like a flutter.

Bottom line, as with anything else - practice - get comfortable in direct winds and then play with crosswinds.

Have fun!

Just...wow. Especially those two winter shots. At first glance I truly thought that they were real pictures, which is the first time I have ever been able to truly say that of a screenshot! I would LOVE if you could either post or PM your ENB and REX settings. You seem to have hit the nail on the head.

I'll try, but it might be tricky... I'm using FlightFX which is a GUI to change SweetFX settings... it was designed for Rise of Flight, but works for FSX & P3D and you can get it here http://riseofflight.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34103

In these shots I was using this, or a similar preset for FlightFX... You need to add it to the FlightFX preset folder and select it through the interface.

I'm using a winter themed SHADE preset here... put this in the SHADE preset folder and select it from 'Load day one from a preset' and then 'Clone Day One'

In REX4 I think the sunset sky was 'City at Night' ... I change things quite often, so I am not 100% sure this was the sky.

If you can be bothered, as I know its quite a fiddle, you should see something similar.

Hope this helps

That is some great advice that I will follow myself ^_^
