Default ATC has issues when loading panel states

Featured Replies

Hello,

Ever since I got the 777 it seems that whenever I load the provided panel states from the FMC it is hard to get the default, FSX ATC utility to work properly. The main issues being the when I open up the ATC window and try select any of the options with the numbers on my keypad, they all seem to be stuck. What I mean by this is, you can see the window responding to the keystroke (the line highlighting like its being selected) but it wont go to the next window. I've tried to mainly set the frequencies in the Comms but that doesn't work. If I don't load a panel state it works fine.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Joel

If it's a bug, it's a bug and you're in your right of asking for help. I'm sorry that I have no idea how to deal with it.

BUT: Why would you use the default ATC anyway? If you want ATC join VATSIM or IVAO, but leave the default crappy ATC alone.

I know that's not the answer you want to hear, just speaking my mind.

I was stumped by this too. You need to switch on VHF and MIC (top left) from your radio panel.

Turns out, it wasn't a bug!

Like on the real plane, if you don't turn your mike on, you won't be able to speak. I experienced this flying on IVAO too.

VATSIM and IVAO are useless where there is no ATC coverage. FSX ATC may be "crappy" but you can use it anywhere and at any time. You just have to ignore its more idiotic instructions.

You can disable this realism via CDU options.

There's a saying I like: "It's better to be alone than with bad company"

Applies for FSX's default ATC :D

please try not to confuse your opinion with fact.

Well that did fix the issue! Switching on the VHF was the trick.

I think VATSIM is great...still need to get it on my new computer. But i agree the spread can be limited at times...I rather have something than nothing. Is there any add on for flight Sim that replicates ATC with realistic instructions? That would be something else if an add on came about with realistic ATC that covered that globe...but maybe that's too big an undertaking.

I'm not confusing, it's a "fact" that default ATC is crap. :P

In your opinion. I fly offline and use the best parts of FSX ATC while ignoring the worst. It works really well for me. On line flying is overrated when you are the only traffic and there's no ATC.

I use FSX ATC also and have encountered the same problem.  The screen will come up in ATC, but clicking brings up nothing and no sound. I prefer FSX  ATC for it is simple to use for navigation for offline use and for the enjoyment of flight simulating.  Not everyone is a pro at it and I am one of them who is not a pro at all. Flight simulating should be enjoyed by anyone with the interest in aviation and the option of simple use if desired.
