  1. Sure, but the OP wanted to inhibit the "autotuner" from selecting the same station on both receivers. Why would one want that? If you need a specific VOR tuned, then tune that one manually. Another option nobody mentioned is going to the FIX page and selecting the desired VOR. This will show BRD/DST info towards that VOR without abandoning the "autotune" function of the FMC. You won't be tuning the VOR per se, but the information you will receive is essentially the same.
  2. Not really. The only way is going manual. There is a way to inhibit the FMC from auto-tuning specific VOR/DME stations, but that's not what you're asking for.
  3. In IVAO, the rules say flights must be done in real time. About the weather, if you want to use older weather, go ahead. Just note that the ATC will issue "wrong" altimeters, winds etc.
  4. Thanks for the confirmation Rich. It's "Jaime", by the way
  5. Interesting topic. I've read a lot on this and there's much diversity of opinions. In my opinion it boils down to whatever representation you're most used to. Dual-cue (X-bars) seems to be much more common today than single-cue (V-bar). Single-cue seems to be easier to follow, dual-cue allows you to ignore one of the two axes. I prefer dual-cue and that's the one I'm most used to.
  6. A man needs his cave. And if you listen to Neil Young, his maid also
  7. Why? Well, for starters its a far better and superior application per se
  8. Thanks Rich for the detailed explanation. However, do you consider the behavior of the aircraft in the previous images (and video) to be realistic? Would the real aircraft do that? For the record, I did submit a ticket and I did get a very good response by Ryan. He said they would look into it for fixing it for the next update.
  9. Beautiful pictures William, I liked the fourth one specially. And just like hobbits, the 777 has huge feet
  10. Do they "hot bunk" on those aircraft beds?
  11. Very interesting, thanks Gregg! But do 12 crew members rest at the same time? Isn't 12 a bit overkill?
  12. Welcome again Mantan! I kinda understand your feeling of "known but weird" at the same time. It happens to me every couple of years. In my case it's long periods (2 years or so) of flightsim-inactivity coupled with a few months of an intense come-back. I also want to agree with the 2 users before me: Try X-Plane 10. It's changed quite dramatically in 12 years. Also: Have you considered Prepar3D instead of FSX? In case you don't know: Microsoft Flight Simulator was discontinued some years ago and Lockheed Martin took the ESP platform (like the core/engine of MFS) and developed it into Prepar3D (P3D). So we could say that P3D is the natural "evolution" of FSX.
  13. Yes, it has happened to me. A defragmentation of the hard drive has been suggested to me before. I can understand that at the moment of touchdown several audio files are played, maybe the sim stutters for the time it takes to locate the audio files to play them?
  14. Interesting adventures José. Are you happy with P3D then? Is it superior to FSX? (I hope it is)
  15. Beautiful! That's an interesting take-off at 0:44. Retract the landing gear and you're airborne! haha
  16. Hi Damian. The "FLT" channel is the ground crew interphone. There's no frequency associated with it, it's not a radio, it's an interphone. My mistake for not making the distinction in the video between radio and interphone. An interphone is, like the name implies, just an "internal phone". There are calling stations all through the cabin of the aircraft and each station has its "phone number", there's the ground crew interphone which rings a horn near the nose wheel. This is the kind of system that is so easily understood when in the real aircraft but difficult to grasp from a computer. When the MIC is pushed in, you don't "need" to turn the respective receiver on as it's automatically turned on. However, it's good practice to leave the receiver on in case you change your MIC channel and still want to receive. For example, you always want to receive the VHF1 radio regardless of where your MIC is. See Dan's comment Thanks PJ! Glad you enjoyed
  17. I liked your comment! But to be fair with P3D, it's not dead, it's in active support and development. FSX/FS9 are dead indeed, but P3D is not. Also, calling it a "game", I know what you mean but I think that's not the most fortunate expression, it might hurt sensitivities here, haha
  18. Hmmm, I don't agree on neither part: The one that says that FLCH is never a good idea and the one that implies that FLCH results in uncomfortable rates. When VNAV starts a descend and goes into VNAV SPD it's basically the same thing as FLCH. And regardless of that, FLCH has its purpose in descents on its own right. Also, passengers don't feel vertical speed. They feel cabin vertical rate which is independent of the AFDS mode. They might also "feel" the aircraft's attitude (deck angle), but that's true for every other mode. Finally, you can adjust the rate of descent when in FLCH by simply advancing the thrust levers above idle. So I don't really see the sense in stating that "FLCH is never a good idea for descents because of descent rates".
  19. Sure! My little "rant" was something more general, not addressed at this thread in particular. I also understand when people buy something and then get disappointed, it's fair enough to "complain". It's just there's always two sides to every story
  20. I haven't tried any of the Aerofly's yet, in fact I didn't even know they existed until very recently. So I'm not saying anything against the OP and his comments, which might well be informed and funded. I believe however that this "little" flightsim community constitutes a case study of people rejecting creation. We, the flightsimmers, more than most entertainment communities, NEED the creators of content. Creating ANYTHING is a very complex task and outright rejecting everything that's created, or being set towards rejection even before a first try, is MEAN towards the people who devote their time and resources to create. And I mean MEAN as in hurting people's feelings mean... I much liked Devon's comments.
  21. What David said. Or you just forget about FS ATC, which is useless, altogether. BTW: You don't "play". You "simulate" :Shame On You: (just a joke)
  22. It does really look great! Does it have a big impact on FPS/performance?
  23. You're welcome! But no, the Torre Picasso has been there for decades, until 2007 it was the tallest skyscraper in Spain! The CTBA (the 4 towers above the right wingtip) are fairly new on the other hand
  24. That's a good point! Aircraft handling characteristics are classified using the Cooper-Harper scale:
  25. I can even see my home on this picture! It's very close to the big roundabout that's bellow the left wingtip and very close to the big motorway M-30 The M-30 is, by the way, a high capacity dual carriageway per direction. The two outer carriageways are "collectors" and the two inner ones are "expressways" for through-traffic. At some points there's a total of 16 lanes, 4 lanes per carriageway! More landmarks to see on this picture! - Santiago Bernabeu Stadium - Torres Kio - Cuatro Torres Business Area - Torre Europa It's unfortunate that the Torre Picasso is not modelled, this one resembles the Twin Towers of the WTC.
