March 22, 201412 yr Hi, I have beed trying to figure out how to best use multiple screens when flying. I tried using three screens wide, but together with trackir this got a bit much, and it had a significant impact on performance. My current test installation is to have two screens on top of each other, one for instruments, and one for the VC.My question is, how do you guys get this to work reliably? Is there any way of having the 2-D panels open up as undocked Windows placed on the correct screen by default? Or do I really have to click each panel, undock it, and place it manually? And I think the main screen got a bit high up, wonder how I can solve that...Here is how the current setup looks. In addition I have a touchscreen to the left on which I place the CDU. March 22, 201412 yr Hi Kolaf, I'm in the close situation as you. I have 3 monitors ( 42", 22", 21") + CDU II monitor and i want to use 2 monitors for panel and gauge. I found a software that do exactly what we want but it is very expensive (from my point of view). It's called FsXPand... Ideal for me would be to fly in 2D on the main screen and use 2 monitors for PFD and EICAS Today is the most beautiful day of my life...
March 22, 201412 yr Check out a little program called INPUT DIRECTOR. It allows using your kb and mouse for all three screens. I fly in Windows mode so that both the non-fsx monitors are visible all the time. To remove the borders so the FSX screen is full, there is a free program called AUTOHOTKEYS (ahk). With these two programs I never fly full screen and cannot tell the difference Neal Howard
March 22, 201412 yr Those of you who use OpusFSX will have the option to save windows state that will load automatically each time you load the Sim/flight. and the best part, it is based on aircraft. so you can save one state let's say for NGX and a different state for Twin Otter. Opus will automatically detect the airplane in use and place the windows to it's pre saved location. give it a shot. Joel Strikovsky
March 22, 201412 yr Author I use opusfsx, but I have not got the position saving to work. As far as I understand it only works for views defined in aircraft.cfg in some way, and not for panels that I undock by clicking on them. If you have some instructions that make this work for my use I would be very grateful :-). Frank Olaf Sem-Jacobsen
March 29, 201412 yr Question re. FSX vs P3Dv2 GPUs/multiplescreens capabilities in DX9 and DX10 I use below described configuration in FSX DX9 [full screen mode]: GPU 1 [gtx780] connected to 3 Dell monitors [1920x1080p] [one surround display 5760x1080p] [Virtual cockpit] GPU 2 [motherboard Intel HD3000] connected to one Acer monitor [1366x768] as extended display [for PFD, ND, etc] In FSX DX10 [using SteveFX] the configuration [2 GPUs] does not work [does not work either full and windowed mode]. It works only with one GPU1 [gtx780] + 3xDells. [both full and windowed modes] I would like ask Avsim users who have P3Dv2 and similar config [especially two GPUs serving surround and extended display] whether such config will work in P3Dv2 in DX10 or DX11. My objective is to run simulator [only hope is P3Dv2x] in DX10 using 2 GPUs/surround 5760x1080 and extended display for instruments. Looking forward to your opinions. Thanks.
