Red Boxes over EGT

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

While departing from KJFK today I decided to fly my PMDG 777 off of Runway 31R instead of 31L because I didn't want to burn the extra fuel needed to taxi to the much longer 31R. Long story short, I saw the end of the runway coming and put my thrust levers all the way forward into the wall. While I'm not sure if the mains left the runway before the grass, I am sure that the EGT on my EICAS panel is surrounded by a red box reminding me why that was such a stupid idea.

I know what the red boxes represent. What I don't know is how to remove them.

When I finally land my 777 (if the wheels aren't destroyed. I'll find out soon enough) at VHHX in 12 hours, I want to know how I can turn off the red EGT Boxes. I always "save" my panel state when I leave FSX and reload it automatically when I restart it, and I'd love not to have the red boxes present for my next hundred flights in the 777 (barring I survive this flight). Does anyone know how to remove the red boxes at the gate? Thanks!

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Try cancel/recall button. It should hide the red boxes, but I don't believe it's a permanent solution. Wait and see what will happen after landing, maybe red boxes will vanish.

Yes, the Cancel Recall switch below the display select panel will clear the red boxes.

Thanks guys, that fixed it right away.

Now does anyone know how to conduct an inflight repair of some blown tires from rolling across the grass at 160kts?

Haha, you can replace tires on ground.  :P

Btw, I just tested, when you shut down engines, red boxes will go away permanently. Just do it on ground, don't push your luck in cruise. :P

In test I managed to exceed N1, N2 and EGT limits and trigger both bleed air to off (probably consequence of too high egt), so pack and hyd air pumps tripped off consequently.

Worst case, maintenance should do it, I suppose.
