March 25, 201412 yr I want to change my i7 3970 to 4970. May i know do i need to make re-activation after change CPU? I will only change CPU only, will not reinstall OS. Tks
March 25, 201412 yr Depends on how PMDG checks the hardware. Some software checks for CPU serial number, some doesn't. In any case, be safe - revoke your license via CDU before changing the CPU, then reactivate. --Peter Fabian
March 25, 201412 yr revoke your license via CDU Please instruct me how I do this as I too am planning replacing my current Q6600 CPU. Thanks. Rick Almeida
March 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member Please instruct me how I do this as I too am planning replacing my current Q6600 CPU. Thanks. Isn't it in the Intro manual? Last section relating to the Ops Center? I know it's in there somewhere. Kyle Rodgers
March 25, 201412 yr Thanks, as usual, Kyle. Did not delve that deeply there as it was only after coming across a Haswell i5-4670K at a bargain price during my recent trip Down Under that I've thought about changing the current CPU. Now trying to see which motherboard will be the best suitable. But that's another matter. Rick Almeida
March 25, 201412 yr damn, PMDG drm even checks your hardware? Isn't that a bit intrusive. Why? It's industry standart to check whether the hardware SW is run on is the same it was installed on. --Peter Fabian
March 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member Thanks, as usual, Kyle. Welcome. I honestly couldn't remember how to do it specifically, but I remember that it got mentioned somewhere in the intro because it was a new feature, so I figured that might help. PMDG drm even checks your hardware? Isn't that a bit intrusive. Isn't that the purpose of DRM? It's meant to identify a specific user. It's just like a driver's license number. It identifies a specific person to ensure you're not masquerading as someone else. I wouldn't exactly call that intrusive... Why? It's industry standart to check whether the hardware SW is run on is the same it was installed on. Exactly. Kyle Rodgers
March 25, 201412 yr So you need to deactivate your 777 licence before changing the parts? I didn't know that and I have my new parts on its way to my house. Thanks for the heads up! Jamie Brady
