October 14, 201411 yr No. EXEC remains extinguished after press DES NOW. However, I tried press EXEC, but nothing happened. Yes, but I'm courious is it bug or I'm doing something wrong I am curious now too :-).....I will give it a try tomorrow. In the mean time, make sure you are still in cruise (FMC cruise page not blanc) and in either Vnav Path or Vnav Alt. October 26, 201411 yr 777simmer, did you test DES NOW function? In my 777, DES DIR also do not work (I suppose that CLB DIR do not work too, however didn't test). I wrote ticket, but they I have no response form them since four days... Lukasz Trzaskowski
October 27, 201411 yr 777simmer, did you test DES NOW function? In my 777, DES DIR also do not work (I suppose that CLB DIR do not work too, however didn't test). I wrote ticket, but they I have no response form them since four days... What a coincidence.....I totally forgot about about this one untill last night. Sorry about that. So yes, I used the CDU Descend Now feature yesterday for a descend into LGSF. I was already within 50nm if Top of Descend point and it worked just like it should......the same as pressing the altitude selector. I have not tried CLB DIR and DES DIR yet. Weird that it does not work for you..... Edit: Make sure you try within 50nm of the TD point (but dont wait untill you are allmost on the TD either)......the CDU Progress page gives you the exact distance to TD. And, not sure if it matters, but I used the FO CDU......I allways fly as FO and have the Capt side turned off to recover some performance. Rob Robson
October 28, 201411 yr Ok, so... I know what was the reason of inactive DES NOW option... I hadn't set altitude constrain at the end of route. When I set it, for example FL100, then set lower MCP altitude (for example 25000 [i was at 38000]), then after press DES NOW there was EXEC prompt, but.... ....and this is very weird... after press EXEC, aircraft reach nearly 11000 fpm of descent (almost 360 IAS!), after short time it back to 0 fpm and after few second again descent about 10000 fpm and so on... Any ideas? Lukasz Trzaskowski
October 29, 201411 yr when the aircraft does that again, take a look at your ND display.Did the Vnav path indicator show you below or above the calculated path? If above it then the aircraft will dive down to try and capture it.(10.000ft/min is not normal though) If not above it then you have a different problem. While diving down the PFD should at some point change from Vnav Path to Vnav Spd. It should never reach 360kt in Vnav Spd (777-200). Rob Robson
October 30, 201411 yr Hi, Rob, I am on CRZ FL, so when I start descent (it doesn’t matter in what mode: V/S, FLCH, ...) I will be below calculated path. As far as I know, that idea of DES NOW function it to start descent at rate about 1000 fpm, before calculated T/D, and fly with that descent rate to reach calculated path. However, my T7 starts descent with rate 10000 fpm. Let me allow to paste some screeshots: 1. start descent: 5 screens with 5 sec period 2. after few seconds, back to 0 fpm 3. and diving again Ps. Hmm, I don’t remember if speed values was set at each waypoint to the end of route  – but - before DES NOW execution, I set altitude constraint at the end of route (due that, the DES NOW become active) and speed values for each waypoint of route should appear automatically – am I right? Ps 2. While testing, I didn’t have enter arrival procedure in FMC, but I think that it isn’t reason. Ps 3. Physically throttle was idle. Lukasz Trzaskowski
October 30, 201411 yr Weird.....it should not dive down at all before reaching TD. What have you entered as cuise speed in the Vnav cruise page and what have you entered as descend speeds (mach/ias) on the vnav descend page (yes I do see the target speed of .83 on the PFD but I want to know what you have in the vnav pages.....also .83?) Rob Robson
October 30, 201411 yr Rob, I paste both pages: EDIT: another screen... (VNAV DES page while diving) ...and new information - same issue exist also in normal VNAV descent, when reaching calculated T/D. As I remember well, on RTM version VNAV descent works fine, so: - or there is a bug - or I'm doing something wrong - but what?! :( Lukasz Trzaskowski
October 31, 201411 yr Does not look like you are doing something wrong......If this happens everywhere (so not just with one saved flight or with one certain panel state then I think I would try to run and close the ops center and see what that does (Probably nothing but who knows). Then a support ticket to PMDG. Unless you are in a hurry to try and fix this...then you could try an uninstall/reinstall. There is a thread somewhere by PMDG about how to uninstall/reinstall I think. Maybe someone has a link? Navigation Display display? lol :-) Rob Robson
October 31, 201411 yr Commercial Member Maybe someone has a link? I don't want to waste time searching the forum because it's probably better for me to just type it: -Uninstall the aircraft through the Control Panel (Add / Remove Programs) -Go into your FSX folder and find any folder references to the specific aircraft in the SimObjects Folder -Go into your FSX AppData folder (where your FSX.cfg is) and delete any references to the specific aircraft in the SimObjects folder there as well Re-install. Kyle Rodgers
October 31, 201411 yr Rob, Kyle, a. I did re-install (with one exeptions: I did nothing delete from AppData folder) b. I have already wrote ticket (about 10 days ago) - no response. Yesterday I wrote the second... Maybe you're right, Rob, maybe should I experiment with panel states... I based on cold&dark panel state which is made by me, but made before SP1c (however, after first SP1 version) Thanks guys. Lukasz Trzaskowski
October 31, 201411 yr Commercial Member I did nothing delete from AppData folder This might be the issue (and is one of the hundred reasons I discourage uninstall/reinstall as an early troubleshooting step), but I'm not sure. Maybe you're right, Rob, maybe should I experiment with panel states... I based on cold&dark panel state which is made by me, but made before SP1c (however, after first SP1 version) I can't remember when the "delete panel states" action was asked of people. SP1 to SP1b is what I'm remembering, though. If it was a panel state from SP1, that could be the issue. b. I have already wrote ticket (about 10 days ago) - no response. Yesterday I wrote the second... Log back in and check the ticket history. What does it say about the ticket status? They usually get back within 24-48 hours. Kyle Rodgers
October 31, 201411 yr Log back in and check the ticket history. What does it say about the ticket status? They usually get back within 24-48 hours. They responsed for second ticket... (they also recommend re-install) So, at first I will reinstall it PROPERLY and if it not help, I'll delete my c&d state and make new one on SP1c. Lukasz Trzaskowski
October 31, 201411 yr Commercial Member So, at first I will reinstall it PROPERLY and if it not help, I'll delete my c&d state and make new one on SP1c. I'd honestly delete all panel states ahead of time just to be sure. Kyle Rodgers
