Is a TH2GO less demanding on a good card than 3 monitors?  Would I get better frame rates? Would I have the luxury to run more monitors overall?

Thanks

I can't answer all of your questions, just comment on the last one. With TH2G you use only one connection on the video card to connect via the TH2G box which then connects to three monitors. This leaves the other video card connections free for more monitor hook ups, even a second TH2G.

Before you spend money on a TH2GO you should have a specific reason to do so.

This is because newer video cards have this functionality built in to them so money spent on a TH2GO is better spent on a better GPU.

If you want to run only three screens then buying a th2go makes no sense over getting a good GPU.  They are expensive and are a cost on top of the gpu.

Nvidia has nvidia surround which does the same thing and ati has eyefinity which does the same thing, you just plug the three monitors in to the card directly.

The only reason why you should get a th2go today is if you need to run more screens than you can off a reasonable gpu, e.g. 6, 8 screens etc.   Then the th20 will get you 3 screens for every one output on your card.

A th2go is not easier on your graphics card.   If you run 3x1280x800 as an example, you are still pushing a resolution of 3840x800.   The gpu has to do X amount of work for that resolution and it is not 'easier' for the gpu to do that than if you were running three screens of a single card using eyefinity or nvidia surround.
