A few issues after first flight

Featured Replies

For some reason I had a really tough time getting this version of FS2Crew working which is strange because its my third or fourth one over the years and I never had problems before.  I finally got the sound through my headset but the voice recognition seemed to have a very difficult time understanding me.  I guess I will have to go through the recognition test once more and perhaps add a few of my own words.

Anyway, the issues were as follows:

1)  All sound files from FS2Crew seemed to cut in and out, or cut off mid way, or one of the checklist item was never read out at all.  Any ideas?

2) The FO kept saying "Looks like were picking up some ice"....he said this over and over again througout the entire flight.  I turned on the anti ice on the airframe, props, windows, but he kept saying it.  I asked for ice protection from the FO which he put on but then kept saying "Looks like were picking up some ice".  What are you supposed to do to deal with this?

thanks,

Hi Mark,

Sounds cutting in and out, and voice recognition:  We're using the exact same system as the other FS2Crew's so your results should be consistent with the older FS2Crew's.

You update to V1.1?

Try updating your audio drivers and run the voice training again.

2. Ice: Were you in ice?  Are you using some 3rd party wx program?

Yes I have 1.1. I will double check on the NGX and see if I get the same issue.

As for ice. We'll not really. Some cloud and temps at 5c on the ground. Using ASN. No visible precipitation.

I was getting the ice message too. Although I'm not sure it has any relation to FS2Crew because he just says it when "ice detected" comes up on the engine display.

I'm using OPUS

OK but there has to some way to deal with the information.  If you fly in icing conditions, and the FO tells you there is ice buildup and then you react by turning on the de-ice system, surely the FO will not keep saying it through out the rest of the flight.  Just a guess that not using ASN or Opus is probably a non starter for almost anyone using this aircraft with FS2Crew.

He only says it if an adequate deciding mode is not currently selected. At least that has been my experience so far.

Correct, the FO should only speak "We're picking up ice" when the ice message appears on the Engine display.

This call should reset to off when the Ice status messages extinguishes.

In V1.2, I'll tighten this call so the FO says it less frequently.

Expect V1.2 shortly.
