Nvidia Inspector - fps limiter issue

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am having the following issue with Nvidia Inspector latest version (1.9.7.2) and fsx: I am using the NI fps limiter set at 30 fps (fsx internal fps limiter set to unlimited). While in FSX, this limit of 30 fps is maintained for a while (10-20 min.) and afterwards the fps limit seems to just go away, the indicated fps (shift-Z) going up between 60 and 100+ fps (causing mainly stutters).

Does anyone know a solution for this issue?

I am using an i7-4770 k + Asus GTX 780 ti with the latest Nvidia driver (335.23).

Many thanks!

thanks a lot! Your suggestions did improve performance. Fsx runs smoother than in my previous setup.

There is only one issue. The internal fps limiter is generating a rhythmic stutter every 3-4 seconds which is more obvious when on ground. Do you know how to fix this?

Thanks!

When you find out how to fix this 3-4 sec stutter at a rythmic time please post it, have spent the last 3 weeks doing everything suggested with no change what so ever, going completely nuts.

Cheers Rod.

I belive that internal FPS limiter has nothing to do with "rhythmic stutter", becouse i don't have it. It's probably something about other settings - that stutter can be caused by weather, traffic, DLL.XML leftowers, any application that uses simconnect etc. I think that means FSX is struggling with something.

You can try to set paging file to system managed for all drives. I heard about this from Jim(firehawk44), and it realy helps with microstutters. But i think you have another problem with settings, probably with performance.

This is how i set my system:

 - clean installation Windows 7 / 64bit

 - Windows 7 tuning folowing "tweakhound.com - Tweaking Windows 7" guide (the best win7 guide in my opinion)

 - FSX tuning folowing Word Not Allowed's guide - just google for "Word Not Allowed's Flight Simulation World" and follow his fsx tweaking guide

 I tried all guides and this combination works best for me, i don't see a stutter to often

Thank you very much for all the information and the time provided in writing it here. I really appreciate it.  I have just found the fix for the rhytmic stutter, in my case. I changed the vsync from 1/2 refresh rate to  3d application controlled in NI and put the followng lines in fsx. cfg:

[Display]
ForceFullScreenVSync=True
ForceVSync=True

And also I set 30 fps limit within FSX.

As for Kostas' tweaks, I used to use them all. Tonight I started with a clean fsx cfg and used only the AM=14 tweak + Usepools=0 (beside the vsync)

Now when flying 737 ngx everything is smooth in the VC and even in the outside views (spot and locked spot views). I am quite happy with the results, as I have been searching for smoothness for quite a while.

Now back to flying :)

Thanks again!

I run the 1/2 vsync but with FPS limited in NI at 30. I get much more smooth...a perfect FSX! But limiting it in FSX get me less smooth and less performance.

I would do the same but the fps limiter in Nvidia inspector does not work in my case. Fps go wild a few minutes after Fsx loads.

Same here. Internal (vs. external in NI) FPS limiting visibly curbs my FPS, which can be seen in 737NGX at EDDF for example. Otherwise most Word Not Allowed's tweaks sans affinity mask tweak.
