April 30, 201412 yr Hi Guys, Would my modest rig (see sig!) be enough to run P3D 2.2, ?, I appreciate I couldn't run on max settings! Cheers, Mal Walsh
April 30, 201412 yr You'll be able to run it for sure. If you keep a low profile on the settings and addons you install, you'll have a decent performance. April 30, 201412 yr Hi Guys, Would my modest rig (see sig!) be enough to run P3D 2.2, ?, I appreciate I couldn't run on max settings! Cheers, I imagine you'd have no problem running it though I would be inclined, if I were you, to overclock your 2500k. That cpu is unlocked and would be no problem to OC. My i5 3570k is stock at 3.4 and I run it at 4.4 with no instability or heat troubles on air. The 2500k is renowned as an excellent cpu for gaming. You would also see a substantial fps increase in FSX.
April 30, 201412 yr I run a i5 2500K overclocked to 4.6 on air. With a GTX580 I have no performance issues with scenery and autogen set at dense. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
April 30, 201412 yr Author Thanks for the advice Guys, I do have P3D ver's 1.3 and 1.4, although not used a lot, I'll start saving up for ver 2.2 professional! I'm not so sure about overclocking, because I remember when my machine was being built 3 years ago, when overclocking was originally attempted, I was informed that it became very unstable, and was left alone, I'll just try it, as is, and see what happens when I eventually purchase! Cheers Guys! Mal Walsh
April 30, 201412 yr My current system is similar at the moment except I have a GTX 570 (same generation and level as your 6970). You'll be able to enjoy most of what P3D has to offer with good performance except: 1) Vegetation shadows 2) Cloud shadows Those two simply require a bigger GPU. I can't use them without halving my FPS. But you can still use HDR, VC shadows, external shadows, terrain shadows, etc. all with good effect.
