May 19, 201412 yr I was on a flight recently on a Jetstream and the pilot let me spend some time in the cockpit. This aircraft did not have an auto pilot but the GPS displayed the course to get onto the final approach. The pilot followed the curved cline on the GPS right on to Final and I was wondering if this is possible to do in FSX or P3D with the default GPS? May 19, 201412 yr Yes; just file a VFR Flight Plan and it will show the track on the GPS for you to fly but not the altitude. You have to set the altitude on the autopilot or fly by hand along with the speed. If you have an approach plate then follow that when ATC gives you the runway to land on. Have done this for many years. fisheye

May 20, 201412 yr If you buy RXP (RealityXP) Garmin 530 you can program all that into the GPS and the plane will fly the course and the approach automatically, and you can switch it off and fly manually at any time in the process. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
May 20, 201412 yr A competing product to the RealityXP GNS530 is http://www.mindstaraviation.com/ Similar price range. I use the RealityXP myself and find them nice indeed. Havn't tried Mindstar, but it seems they are a newer product line. They also have a G1000 available. The video below shows me flying the RealityXP GNS530 Unlimited product installed in RealAir's Beechcraft Duke Turbine "Royal Duke" BE60 Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator
May 20, 201412 yr The default GPS has all the approaches (as of date of release anyway) available and they can be displayed or followed by default autopilot. It is possible to use addon scenery file to update the approaches to current, although the default GPS does not have the ability to program what are called "RF" flight plan legs (curved paths based on waypponts) that are used in certain RNAV approaches. scott s. .
May 21, 201412 yr Author Do you know if the RXP or Mindstar products can prpgram "RF" flight plan legs (curved paths based on waypponts)? Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
