May 26, 201412 yr Turn off the AP and land manually. Lj. Prodanovic
May 26, 201412 yr You didn't specify which sim you are referring to so I took a guess. Microsoft Flight doesn't have a B737 but FSX does and it is the most active sim at the present. If this is not correct, let me know and I'll move the topic to the proper sim. To fly the approach, make sure your course indicator in the AP is set properly. It should be set to the runway heading if not using an ILS, set the heading manually and fly the course at the proper pattern altitude until visual is obtained and then land. Thank you. May 26, 201412 yr I gave you a very short statement on flying the approach. You should look in the Tutorials section at the top of the Forums page and study the one on flying an ILS. If if doesn't do it for you, then Google ILS and read all you can possibly absorb. Good luck and enjoy. Thank you. May 26, 201412 yr Author Thanks for your reply The sim I am using is fs2004.the instructor(rod Machado)has configured me for landing into ksea idea.i have tried inputting the vor frequency into nav1 and input runway heading and turn on autopilot with nav hold button but aircraft just veers off course
May 26, 201412 yr Visual and VOR approaches are flown without autopilot. What runway and frequency are you using? What distance from runway are you, and what is your heading? The default KSEA can have a habit of picking up the back-course first if you are using the ILS which might explain your problem. Peter Schluter
May 27, 201412 yr I see now that you said visual or VOR approach. VOR approaches are flown using vectors which are provided on approach plates. If you don't have the plate, it will be very difficult to perform the procedure correctly. Rod should be coaching you. Tune the VOR and follow the needles to line up with the airport then execute a visual approach and landing . As Peter said, VOR approaches are flown manually. Don't engage the AP. Hand fly the approach and landing. It's not too difficult. Wish you luck and remember, practice will pay off on this. Thank you.
