Rain tweak

Featured Replies

I was thinking about rain tweak as I couldn't find any info on P3D forum about their intention to improve rain.

P3Dv2 default rain looks similar to FSX DX10. Maby someone knows if it's possible to tweak the rain, at least to achieve effect like with SteveFX fixer?

I like the default rain, no more halo's around the plane in Eyefinity resolution.  But I believe the config files are in Prepar3D v2's ShadersHLSL directory.  Do make a backup of this directory.

If you do make the mods, always clear out the Shader Cache directory or the effects won't show when you restart the Sim.

Enjoy

This is a great tweak!!! Now rain looks far more better! Thanks!

One drawback is that it also makes the snow look grayish. Also, some have reported that the tweak affects the color of the volumetric fog, but I can't confirm that.

Indeed snow colour is also changed, but I prefer to have a little more grayish snow but much more better rain.

As for volumetric fog - can't confirm. Fog colour definition is contained in sky colour textures.

A good aircraft has even raindrops on the windshield!
