HD Mesh v2 question

Featured Replies

Still sort of confused. Is this also a landclass product as well and is it possible to use photoscenery along with HD Mesh v2, will I get benefits out of using both or won't it work?

I would like to use all 3 products (HD Mesh v2, photoscenery and OSM Data) to get the most from X-Plane and make it as realistic looking as possible.

I'm currently using some city photoscenery frrom simheaven.de and was curious if HD mesh v2 works with them.

ASUS ROG Maximus Hero XII ▪︎ Intel i9-10900K ▪︎ NVIDIA RTX 3090 FE ▪︎ 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro ▪︎ Windows 10 Pro (21H1) ▪︎ Samsung 970 EVO Pro 1TB NVME SSD (OS Drive) ▪︎ Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SATA SSD ▪︎ Seagate 4TB SATA HDD ▪︎ Corsair RMx 850W PSU

My understanding is that the current simheaven photosceneries all have the HD Mesh V2 as their underlying mesh.  Therefore, if you are only going to fly in the photo scenery area, there is no need to download the HD Mesh V2 for that area.  However, if you do, it is not going to affect the scenery.  Just take up disk space.

I can confirm this to be true as I have all of the HD Mesh V2 installed in my Custom Scenery folder and I have about 30 or so photo scenery tiles in addition to the OSM and W2XP beta files.  They all seem to play nice together and the scenery is the best I've seen in 10 years of XP.

Good luck.

How do I know which photoscenery includes the HD Mesh v2 in them? Does every single photoscenery on simheaven have it built-in?

No they don't. I believe the downloads from April of 2104 onward have the mesh included.

I'd suggest you have a read through this http://forum.avsim.net/topic/430976-scenery-and-openstreetmap-osm-faq/, and here http://forum.avsim.net/topic/442361-scenery-and-hd-mesh-v2-qa-with-andras-fabian-alpilotx/, which should explain what it is, how it works with photoscenery, why you need it, etc..

I believe this is now the case, and most of the photoscenery includes HD Mesh v2.
