don't know if this is the right place to be posting this but I have noticed a performance drop and don't know where or why. And since I am tweaking for PMDG I figured this would be the best place to get help since you all have experience with the PMGD addons. I have completely removed my fsconfic, let FSX rebuild it and then went through Kostas performance twaks guide. http://#####.wordpress.com/fsx-software-and-hardware-guide/ I am only getting 20fps with my syste. Below you will find my fsxconfig and some screenshots that I took. I have 1 thing in my system tray running and that is microsoft security essentials. If I remove that I might get 0.1 -0.2 extra fps so negligable. If I remove ASN again maybe 1 or 2 fps difference, Because my affinity for fsx is set on core 0 and 1 and ASN on cores 2 and 3.

First off, I had to read your thread because of the "Mobile Beware" in the subject line.  I am a "mobile flyer" and have been for a few years.  I do, however, have a laptop that is more than capable of handling FSX in such a way that I can enjoy a lot of the 3rd party scenery as well as PMDG products.  Granted, this isn't a screaming machine and I don't necessarily get the high frame rates, but as I have seen several people state here at AVSIM, the system is tweaked properly to achieve a decent flight.  I do a lot of GA flying, which to me, is a true test of system capability as well as configuration of FSX.  I too have used Word Not Allowed's guide as well as the one here at AVSIM and a few others around the net.  I try to get a base comparison of settings and then go with the "majority rule" rule.

 

Recently, after upgrading my rig, I have yet to have a CTD/OOM but as I said, I tend to get a lot of low framerates in heavy scenery with complicated aircraft, but that is to be expected so no letdown there.  Looks like what you have done above should work nicely but I am sure you already know of the dangers of over tweaking.  I have been caught in that trap all too often, trying to achieve the "holy grail" of FSX.  I have to agree though that everyone needs to be diligent in ensuring that scenery to be used is the only scenery loaded for a given flight and as far as other 3rd party add-ons, that is either well documented by the developer or the pilot's discretion.

 

Thank you though for your contribution, I will take a closer look at it later on and see if I need to do anything more to my config to squeeze out a few more frames.  One more thing, I have found that the implementation of the DX10 Fixer has greatly increased the efficiency of FSX for me personally, so that too may need a mention if you use it.  If not, give it a try and report your findings.
