I guess the brand isn't really the point behind the question though.  I'm sure Gigabyte and Asus have the same numerous options.

 

Sorry, answered the first part.  Yes, just see what slots etc you want.  I wouldn't go for one of the expensive ones personally, the popular ones seem to be the Asus Z97-A and the Gigabyte Z97-D3H.  For my Z87 board, when they first came out, I only paid about £70 or $110, and have had no issues with overclocking or anything.

I still don't understand why the 770 over the 760 if GPU isn't as important as CPU though.  Especially at approx $100 more.

Because so much emphasis (when it comes to FSX) is put on the need for the fastest CPU you can get and OC it to make it even faster that many times you end up with a mismatched GPU that will just bottleneck your CPU. I am a great believer in a balanced system when it comes to FSX and all the complex addons that end up getting added.

 

My money's on post #2 and the 4790k.
