August 3, 201411 yr Is there any freeware software available that can create a stable image backup? It is build in into Windows7. You dont have Win7? But I am sure there is tons of free image software too if you google around a bit. Rob Robson
August 3, 201411 yr Yes, I have Windows 7. I didn't realise that it had a disk image backup system! Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
August 5, 201411 yr Author Hi Rob , one question , Do i need to make a image of the Windows drive wich is C and a seperate mage file of the FSX dive wich is G or is it possible to make 1 total image file wich includes the Windows drive C and the FSX drive G ? Thanks , Gérard Best regards , Gérard van Veldhoven
August 5, 201411 yr I guess you could make an image of both drives. I prefer making an image of the C drive only and just copying the whole FSX folder to a backup disc. This way I have acces to that FSX folder if I ever need something from it (an image file you can not acces) Rob Robson
August 5, 201411 yr Author Hi Rob , thanks for helping , if i make a copy of my fsx folder on a back up disc , can i just copy this back up FSX folder back to my drive G after installing the Windows backup image , is that what you mean ? That would be simple . Thanks again , Gérard Best regards , Gérard van Veldhoven
August 5, 201411 yr The only thing that i note more after the SP1 release is the big VAS increase after switching views. if you switch to the VC to a wing view, apart of the VAS increase, the time to load the aircraft textures takes between 3-5 seconds sometimes, and now with the NGX this happens too. before the sp1 i never had this problem. There's something in the SP1 that makes VAS increase a lot, and have direct interaction with the NGX. And i know this will be hard to fix/solve because many people have OOM's with low settings, and many people don't have OOM's with high settings I have My settings in Mid (almost MAX) and i don't have OOM's. But if start a flight in Flytampa DUBAI, my VAS at gate starts with 2.6, if i switch from VC to wing view, then spot view, then tower view, then VC again, my VAS goes up to 3.3 and the aircraft textures always between 3-5 seconds to load (appear). Most sure we have to live with this. Jason Cardeira

August 5, 201411 yr No it's not any scenery problem. As i said, before SP1 i didn't have this kind of problems Jason Cardeira
August 5, 201411 yr Commercial Member Quite, but with scenery that requires big VAS like that, and FSX having VAS limitations, you must decide if you want an airport simulator, or an aircraft simulator. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
August 5, 201411 yr I know that. The good thing is i don't have OOM problems. In some cases the VM almost reaches 4GB, but for my lucky the fsx doesn't stop Jason Cardeira
August 5, 201411 yr Commercial Member Ahh, sorry I mis-read you, I thought you were inferring you got problems with the departure scenery, and none without it. if i make a copy of my fsx folder on a back up disc , can i just copy this back up FSX folder back to my drive G after installing the Windows backup image , is that what you mean ? That would be simple . First thing I do after a fresh install of FSX is make a backup of the 4 folders. I can return FSX to any previous condition with that. That would be simple . Thanks again , Gérard Yes that is what I do. When I reinstall from image, I: 1) first rename my old "Flightsimulator X" folder to "Flightsimulator X_old" (this way it is not used but also not completely gone yet.....just in case) 2) Then I copy my backup "Flightsimulator X" folder (the one that was made at the the time the Win7 image was also created) from my backup disc to my dedicated FSX drive. 3) And finally I re-install Win7 from the backup image with the recovery disc (or Win7 install disc) 4) If all is good I delete the Flightsimulator X_old folder. It is best to stick to that order too, because if you re-install Win7 before you copied your FSX backup to your FSX drive, then you end up with the FSX icon on the desktop not finding FSX......cause you renamed it to Flightsimulator X_old! (it is easy to fix, but the order above prevents the problem in the first place). Rob Robson
August 5, 201411 yr Author Steve and Rob , thanks both for your input in this , just made a new image file from Windows and copied the fsx folders and files and saved them on my extern drive . Thanks again , Gérard Best regards , Gérard van Veldhoven
August 7, 201411 yr Author Hi guys , At this moment i have everything installed except FTX GLOBAL and my VAS seems to be stable , just completed a nearly 12 hour flight from RKSI to FS DREAMTEAM KDFW and my VAS was MAX 2.7 landing and taxing in spotview at kdfw with panning around the plane . I am thinking about installing FTX global and - or FTX vector , with this VAS i have at this moment would it be possible to install FTX global and vector without running into OOM problems again . Thanks , Gérard Best regards , Gérard van Veldhoven
