FSX Gold will not install - any ideas?

Featured Replies

Acceleration IS SP2. Acceleration was released long before SP2. SP2 is coded differently so that the individuals who download and install this SP will not be able to use any of the additional aircraft or scenery that was placed in the payware version called Acceleration. So, if you have SP2 and Acceleration installed, expect issues with FSX and/or any addon.

Best regards,

But in the end the code is pretty much the same? I just switched from "normal" FSx SP2 to Gold with Acceleration cause of the abilities of carrier support.

P.S: 3000th post...what a number!

Best regards, Steffen

Well after many hours of #$%^#@ and @#@$%$%, I decided another strategy.  Fortunately I performed a complete system backup with Acronis right before starting this project so I restored my system back to where it was, uninstalled FSX SP2 and just installed Acceleration on top of the base FSX with all of my addons in place.  Thankfully it worked.  Things like airports seem to be fine, aircraft are also fine.  Base scenery is a bit messed up (GEX, UTX, Mesh and Landclass).....but I am not sure if its all of these or just some.  Turns out I was just about to pull the trigger on ORBX Global, Vector and LCEurope so I still have that option now.

GEX, UTX, Mesh and Landclass work together so they might have got messed up with all you tried...but they are easy to reinstall
