New Camera View in VC

Featured Replies

How do you create new camera views in the VC of the 737 NGX? I tried to add and edit the aircraft.cfg and it didn't seem to make any difference whatsoever to any camera views.

The easiest way would probably to use a 3rd party application (such as EZDOK, Opus, etc), which enables the user to make custom views. Hope that helps...

Buy Ezdok, the best camera utility for both FSX and P3D. Visit the dedicated forum and view the excellent instructional videos by Eric Krueger.

So there is no way to "edit" the aircraft.cfg file for the NGX?

Why aren't changes made to the aircraft.cfg file with regards to the camera views not editable? This should be a simple thing.

Edit: no money for "another" addon.

There is.  Just use the existing ones as examples...

I was able to add to the camera.cfg file in the user/appdata/roaming/ms/fsx folder. This will work for my means, simply because I fly PMDG 737 NGX and 777.

For whatever reason, the aircraft.cfg will not use the added camera definitions. I don't know why. Perhaps it is locked, hard coded, or restricted. At any rate, thanks for the directions, guidance, and help. It WAS helpful.

Since I was able to add it to the camera.cfg file, I wonder if it was operator error in the beginning when I couldn't get it to add/read the changes to the aircraft.cfg. I will try again another day.

You can add some fields if needed:

[CameraDefinition.012] //PUT NUMBER IN ORDER HERE

Title = New VC view // MAKE SURE YOU USE TITLE FIRST AND ONLY TIME HERE

Guid = {XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX} //JUST CREATE SOME GUID

Origin = Virtual Cockpit //DO NOT CHANGE

MomentumEffect=NO

SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel

SnapPbhReturn = False

PanPbhAdjust = Swivel

PanPbhReturn = False

Track = None

ShowAxis = YES

AllowZoom = TRUE

InitialZoom = 0.7//ADJUST AS NEEDED

SmoothZoomTime = 2.0

ZoomPanScalar = 1.0

ShowWeather = Yes

XyzAdjust = TRUE

ShowLensFlare=FALSE

Category = Cockpit//DO NOT CHANGE

PitchPanRate=30

HeadingPanRate=75

InitialXyz=0.52, 0.0, 0.0//ADJUST AS NEEDED

InitialPbh=3, 0, 0//ADJUST AS NEEDED
