August 31, 201411 yr I'm about to make a comeback to flying simulation, I've previously flown with FSX, REX and GEX. I just have a few questions and would appreciate any adivce. 1 since Microsft no longer do FSX, what if any issues will I have with a fresh install on a new computer/ will it activate. 2 Is Prepar3D any better then FSX? 3 If Prepar3d is the way to go do I get the Academic or the Proffesional version? Any help appreciated. August 31, 201411 yr I have both...because I still can't bear to part with FSX You will be able to buy FSX soon on Steam..so any issues with activation will be a thing of the past.

August 31, 201411 yr If you have a computer powerful enough to run P3D with all shadows and water reflections on, with scenery and cloud settings maxed, volumetric fog and HDR lighting on, then visually P3D is far superior to FSX. If not, then I would probably run both FSX and P3D (with settings less than maximum), until all of your preferred addons have become P3D compatible. If you qualify for an academic license for P3D, then you can save some money. Otherwise, the professional version is the way to go. Gerald
August 31, 201411 yr 1. None, and you don't need to do anything with Steam or the Steam version. 2. Some say yes, some say no.
August 31, 201411 yr Well, I'd say it depends on what you like to fly.... If youre low&slow - then definately P3D If you like tubes - then FSX - until PMDG releases for P3D then P3D..... Just my 2 cent's ____________________________________________________Richard Oberwinkler
