September 6, 201411 yr Edited: if you're using ASN, make sure that you have "P3D low cloud offset" set to 0, as this doesn't work correctly with the 2.3 fix (according to HiFi) . . . enabling this will cause the (now correct, with the fix) bottoms of the clouds to be cut off, resulting in less cloud coverage. Thanks for this hint. It's also suggested at the HiFi forum. It was set to 501 so I had to change it to zero. Spirit
September 6, 201411 yr Hello, I applied the new tweak to test my performance and I must say that I am now pretty satisfied. No more huge fps impact (even to a bottom of 10-15) while flying toward clouds (descending) or climbing over them. No more massive time lags while panning within the cockpit from left to right (and viceversa). Just taken off from KIAH (FSDT) with this metar (by ASN) with the Aerosoft Airbus Extended A320: 311353z 20011G15KT 1SM +RA BR SCR011 BKN034CB OVC050 24/23 A3001 A quite challanging weather condition indeed. Well, before the tweak I would have got no more than 15-20 fps and a lot of stutters, but some moments ago I have had more than 30 fps (steadily). Clouds thickness was impressive, from ground level to about 12000 feet, and gave my tha chance to test smoothness by panning within the cockpit: no more significant lags. During the climb I did't note any performance drop, fps were more then 30. So, generally speaking, the opposite performance and smoothness than the flights before applying the tweak. Now I want to test the descending phase, I will report next time. Capt. RICCARDO RIGHETTIProud customer of the PMDG 737NGX and PMDG 777X (wating for next...
