Now to begin i have for alittle while now been trying to get into the habit of deactivating all the sceneries in FSX and only leaving the 2 airports im departing from and arriving at activated. I also use AI Cull and have my settings for traffic at a more than acceptable level seeing as i cancel out boats and ships and airport vehicles.

 

I have the wonderful PMDG 777 and Simwings Heathrow 2014 installed. However it is literally impossible with all of these alterations when trying to help the sim i cannot for the life even get past Windsor without OOM! Like seriously what am i doing wrong? Do i have to sacrifice everything to get this plane to touch the runway tarmac?!

 

I have the latest versions of everything i use, be it ORBX FTX England along with Global, OpenLC Europe and Vector, REX4 Direct and Custom traffic from AIG which i set at 65%.

It would be more helpful if you'd post which sceneries you're using, but the FSX.cfg looks pretty standard, which is a good start.

 

There's a huge section about reducing VAS usage in the intro manual, by the way.

As mentioned today i had Simwings Heathrow 2014 and Flytampa Athens activated ONLY.

 

I try and now only keep the 2 airports i fly from and to activated per flight.

 

My list of sceneries is pretty long to be honest but all from

UK2000, Simwings/Aerosoft, FSDG, 29Palms, Flytampa, FS Dreamteam, Flightbeam, ORBX, Taxi2Gate & Imaginesim.

 

I have no problems with the PMDG 737NGX or other Payware stuff from Aerosoft and Quality wings.

As Kyle suggested, follow the recommendations in the Intro document. Backup your fsx.cfg then let FSX create a new default one. Modify the new default file exactly as recommended in the Intro document. If nothing else, it will be a step in the troubleshooting.

I think you should have posted your OOM problem in one of the many OOM threads out there already.

 

Or at least give it a title that people can see what your thread is about.

I do not use Orbx.

I use UTX instead.

 

Now with UTX you can configure to generate less things or more things.

For 777 flying I disabled many things like minor roads and bridges and cemeteries and golfcourses, etc.

 

I also turned off ALL AI traffic completely

 

Like that I was able to fly from Drzewiecki KJFK to Fly Tampa Vienna and never ever did I use more than 2.5GB of VAS.

(so I could actually use at least some AI traffic it seems or I can see what happens if ai install FSGenesis mesh)

 

I must say that was on SP1.....not on SP1b which I still have to test for VAS use.

 

Can you configure things with ORBX as well?......if so then try reducing things in ORBX.

I have allowed FSX to rewrite the FSX.CFG and i added ONE tweak, that being the HIGHMEFIX. I will see how things get on. I have lowered traffic to 50%.

 

Ill see how things get on and come back if required. It just seems the alot has to be disabled in order to do a flight without OOM.

I've never had an OOM and I do have UT2 for traffic, many airports and no ORBX stuff although I'm don't expect it to be a problem. Only scenery problem might be photoscenery as discussed by PMDG in Intro (0.00.32). I do use Process Explorer as recommended and have found many uses for it. I keep autogen low and do not go for the max water effects. So, I do not feel that I have to disable/limit very much and hope that you get things balanced such that you can enjoy it. Get Process Explorer if you haven't already (Intro 0.00.31)

Try adding STALE_BUFFER_THRESHOLD=2147483647 below HIGHMEMFIX=1 in the FSX.cfg

 

Also download and put uiautomationcore.dll http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?uiautomationcore in the main FSX directory where the .exe is and post your results

After several years of use of FSX, this is the first time I have ever even heard of this Stale_bla bla bla tweak!

 

And I have read A LOT about FSX.....more than most I can assure you.........as in years and years of old posts to build up some knowledge!

 

Clearly I do not know everything, but if I have learned two things from all this reading then it is that

1) if an addon needs silly/magical tweaks..........then I will not install it!

 

2) More often than not however.......the addon does not need the tweak, but the user needs to install and set things things up correctly!

It won't make a difference in performance indeed but to prevent buildings to disappear after a long flight
