FsRaas2.0 & FSX

It would be nice to know it's possible so I know whether to keep trying or not.

Point taken.

I've been using it successfully (though I haven't flown for a while now).

I've been using it successfully (though I haven't flown for a while now).

And this is the free version released a couple of years ago (or whenever it was)?  No the somewhat new paid item mentioned earlier here?  If so, did you do anything special to get it to work with FSX?  I did everything I was supposed to do (as far as I can tell) but all it will do is speak that one word and then nothing ever again.

Yes, it is the free FsRaas V2.0 (June 2012 according to the readme file in the download).  (I had version 1.1 installed before that, and it worked fine as well.)  I just followed the instructions in the readme file included in the download.

I have 64 items in my FsRaas directory, including 59 .wav files, FsRaas.ini, fsraas20.exe, the readme file, r4.csv, and r4_opt.csv (where I think I removed all the really short runways).

Well shoot.  Okay so it's possible.  I don't know what's going on then.  I haven't gotten around to removing the short runways yet as I'm just trying to get it to work first.  I was hoping someone might have some ideas as what the problem could be as I'm stumped.

Maybe try looking at the r4.csv file, picking a runway that is in that file, and seeing if it will work there?

I've tried some major default scenery airports and ther same thing happens everywhere so I'm pretty sure the correct info is there.  And, it's not just saying the first word and each airport.  It will do it at the very first one (regardless of where the location is) and if you so somewhere else nothing happens.  Not even that first word again.

If taxiing to a runway that's where it says "Approaching" and then nothing.  Get on that same runway and nothing.  Go to a different airport and taxi to a runway and nothing again.  It's like the first time it tries breaks the connection or something.

It sounds like there is something that is interfering with it.  I don't know what other add-ons you might have, but have you tried running it without them?  Or maybe your download of the program got corrupted somehow.  Have you tried re-downloading and re-installing?

Does it not say the runway number that it is approaching? That should be a clue right there that is does not seem to have the information on what runway it is approaching for some reason.  Maybe the developer can offer some insight?

I tried two different setups with two independent sets of files and they both do the same thing.  No, it doesn't say the runway number.  Only "approaching" and then it stops.  But, it does that everywhere.  And only one time as mentioned earlier.  Also mentioned earlier, the developer is not responding to e-mails.

4.937.  So that's not it unless the newer versions break it.  It works in FS9 with the latest version there though.

The link provided in Post 3 by Stevan - http://www.mountain-air.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16996&sid=a29aba5608ec6cd601e829f307269122 provides a logical solution the OP may be having. You run the make runways program, go into the main fsx folder and look for the r4 excel file and drop a copy of it into the FSRAAS folder and overwrite the one in that folder. It also states you need to get rid of any thing in your sound system representing 5.1 sound. I did not see where any of this was done by the OP.

I apologize for bringing up the RAASPRO program as they both have the same functions, just different voices. Plus RAASPRO has a setup program in the FSX Addon Menu which you can adjust to the aircraft you are flying. Not sure if RAASPRO has this feature. Funny I never saw this program when it was first uploaded in 2012. Seems like a lot of people would have gotten it (and maybe they did but I did not hear about it).

Best regards,

Both of the suggestions you make have already been done as noted earlier in the thread.
