Hi this is my faulting module. its been a while since i had this but lately its crept back in.

i have updated my GPU driver to the latest GTX 780

i have ran all my anti virus software nothing found.

also ran that scannow you type into CMD

anyone have any ideas?

Vernon Howells

No known fix but some have solved this problem by updating or reinstalling their video card drivers. Perhaps something went wrong when you updated your video card drivers.

It could be a startup program. Run msconfig and disable all startup programs.

You have already run sfc /scannow so that should be okay.

If you still have a driver update program, try running that and see if any drivers need updating.

I just installed and bought tweakBit its sorted alot of problems i had its quite cool check it out. also has a driver updater you can purchase

Vernon Howells

What about going back to old drivers?

Come on Vernon! How do you do that? System restore? The kernelbase.dll has been connected to a bad driver in the past, mostly a bad driver in the Nvidia display drivers but then it could be the driver for your controller too or your sound card!! Maybe even your USB ports. Lots of possibilities. No solution fits all. For some, reinstalling the Nvidia display drivers fixed their problem. For others, it was something else. I'm just trying to lead you in the right direction. Going back to older drivers does not sound like a very good solution to me but it might be worth a try.

Just do a reinstall? i have the original disc still. But i'm going to leave that till last cause i'm not sure that will solve it. have you heard of TweakBit?

Vernon Howells

have you heard of TweakBit

There are so many of these programs out there on the Internet it is mind-boogling. I personally use Advanced System Care 7. The driver update programs are all about the same. I have used Driver Scanner and now use Driver Genius. They all compete against each other so that's good. Of course the freeware registry cleaner most everyone uses is CCleaner. I purchase these products just to get the added features as most have freeware capabilities. Tweakbit is not a US company right? Personally I like the US companies as I live here in the USA.

tweakbit is a US company! will these programmes stop many crashes or prevent it?

I'm going to get that driver updater from Advanced System Care 7

Vernon Howells

Preventing crashes? That's one of the things they tout. I don't use all of the things that are in these programs as they really will make a mess of things if you are not careful. For instance, Privacy Sweep. Wipes out your cookies so every place you were signed into will make you sign in again. I use the Registry Fix and Shorts Fix. Everything else I might run once a year but definitely not every time I run the program. I know how to manually clean my junk files and do that regularly myself. One folder that is not cleaned by any of these programs is the User/App/Local/Temp folder. You need to go in there and delete everything in that folder occasionally as it builds up and takes up disk space. Do not know why Windows does not automatically delete the items in this folder like it does with the Windows/Temp folder.

Well lets see if tweak bit and my driver updater has made any difference.

It did install a few out dated drivers so lets hope

Vernon Howells

Just emptied my temp folder - it was 9.5 GB!  Thanks Jim.

Rob Jones.

Thanks. It's absolutely unbelievable the amount of stuff that goes in that "hidden" temp folder. It's remnants of all of your software installations and updates that was completed by the user. If you have several users on your computer, then it could be taking up even more space!

If you have an SSD move the temp files to your 2nd HDD :)

Firehawk how come i ran the driver updater from your link and it only found 3 out of date of which i then updated. Then when i ran my own one it found alot more? Why the discrepancy?
