Yes you can install them, I have fs9 fsx p3d 2.4 on the same drive and no problem at all.

I would never recommend using the same physical drive for  P3D and FSX.  But if you do have a good mirror program that you can back up you drive.  At one time I had P3D - FSX - Xplane on different drives.  Now its P3D on one and Xplane on the other.  I really at this point, would not recommend FSX since P3D is really good.  The nay sayers have their own opinion and some who paid big bucks for PMDG planes will really put up a fight, but for those of us not waiting, come on in the water is great!

I agree.  They can all be installed on the same drive.  Different folders, different registry entries.  You can't run both at the same time though.  If you have P3DV2 running and click on the FSX icon, it will tell you that you FSX is already running (yes, it thinks P3D is FSX).

What a silly post!  Why not install on the same physical drive? The programs are totally different & do not share anything!!

By the way, just to save on space, & to see what would happen, & to avoid duplicates, I tried this..

As we all know, when we add scenery into the scenery library, we tell the library that the new scenery is in the Addon Scenery folder.

What I did in P3D, was to tell the library to look at the add-on folder in FSX.

 

In fact, you can even create a new addon scenery folder anywhere & just tell the library, in FSX or P3D to look there.

It worked perfectly & saves a lot of duplicate & space!!

NEVER a problem, as the new addon scenery folder does not have to be in the sim's folder at all!
