PMDG 777-200LR vs 777-300ER: Are there differences with the cabin windows? (darker/less transparent?)

Featured Replies

Dear Captains,

i just love the PMDG 777-200LR and -300ER. Today, i flew both T7 variants and i noticed that the cabin window glass of the -300ER seems a little bit darker, less transparent if you look on the -200LR windows. Is this normal, a more than small "bug" or is this an option? Please compare the cabin windows of both airliners and you´ll notice the same.

Cou can clearly see this at night: The Cabin lights of the -200LR seems to be brighter, caused by the brighter window glasses.

I would assume the cabin lights of the -300ER were dimmed manually in the options page of the CDU. By default they are set to 100%. Maybe the -200LR's cabin light is set to a higher level of brightness and it therefore seems to look different.

No, i checked this. Both cabin lights are set to 75%. You can even see that theres a difference with the glass if you have a look on/through the windows at daylight. It´s not really a problem for me, but i would like to know why there are differences like this.

The windows are controlled by whoever painted the particular livery through manipulating the alpha (?) layer. I'm guessing that the particular layer has a minor variation between the liveries.

Kyle, I actually noticed the same thing. The -200 windows on even the PMDG repaints are almost "shiny" where as the -300ER they seem to be a lot darker. I never thought to raise it as I run DX10 which can cause some funny things to happen and chalked it up to that.
