TITAN VS 2 GTX 980

Featured Replies

hey guys i need a serious advise before doing the moove. got a GTX titan with 4 monitor plug on it. im about to sell my gtx titan and buying 2x 980. i want to plug 2 monitor on one GPU and 2 other on second gpu. when SLI will be ready to use i will be ready for it. My cpu is i7 4930k. the reason why i want to do that moove its when streching P3d all over my window got a drops of fps. do i will see better result with that

or i only buy 1 x GTX 980 and plug my 4 screens on it

thanks in advance

You shouldn't stretch the window....You should manually type your resolution in your CFG.

I would just buy 1 GTX980....You will most lickley see better performance in P3D v2.x with it and it wastes less power then the TITAN. In the near future once nvidea has SLI support for P3D without having to be a computer programmer to set it up (lol)

I also may get a second 980.

Hi george. are you talking about that

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN.0.0]

Mode=5760x1080x32
[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN.0.1]
Mode=1024x1280x32

and for the gtx 980 compare to gtx titan you think theres a big step between those 2?

The top snippet is what should be there. Nothing else. Only one DISPLAY device entry should be in your CFG.

And also the 980 is better for P3D. If your into Adobe based products like AE then TITAN is better because it has more CUDA cores

A drop in frame rates with increasing window size or screen resolution is just the way P3DV2 is, nothing to do with a particular graphics card as such, although of course a faster card is never a disadvantage.

You will still get a drop with a GTX980.

Just a question of how much.

Nothing wrong with these cfg entries assuming you are using three monitors in Surround plus a 1024x1280 (portrait mode) monitor as a fourth.

GB . if im putting 2 monitor on one gpu and 2 other one one other gpu. do it will be better?

My setup has 2 Titans and I am very satisfied with it.

It is still a very fast card with a lot of memory.

The time that I ran for the latest hardware when it came out has passed for me....

I don't think you will get any advantage with that arrangement over just a single GPU,

assuming you still want to use nvidia's Surround.

Problem is that (AFAIK) you will have to use SLI to use Surround with two cards installed and at the moment there seems to be little benefit using SLI with P3D/FSX over a single card.

I'm no expert so definitely do some more research on that.

Hello All-my display has four screens.  Three are at 5760 X 1080 using NVIDIA surround from a single Titan, and aircraft instruments are displayed one a fourth monitor at 1920 X 1080 running off a GTX 670.  Is there any advantage to making the config change above for the three monitors, and if so, exactly what would the change be to the config? Thanks.     .

Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.

Michael those settings are almost certainly there already in your config.

Just have a look with note pad...
