Add ons and PMDG

Featured Replies

Hi good simmers out there,

I just wanted to know, for sure, If add ons like Accu-Feelv2, Aerosoft my traffic 2013, and others do or don't work in FSX? Also which Traffic Add on works with PMDG (B777 and B747). I'm just worried I purchase one of these Add ond and it's not compatible with PMDG products. I've heard that any Add on works with PMDG. Is this so? Please some guy that is familiar with this.

Thanks a million in advance.

Thumbs Up on Accu-Feel here!

PMDG products work with offline/AI traffic, including MT2013. The only thing I noticed is that, with a high amount of AI traffic, the TCAS.dll of the PMDG B744 (and the one in the MD11 also) occasionally might cause FSX to crash to desktop (that's according to event viewer). This seems to be fixed though, for the NGX and the B777.

Thanks Guys. But my MT 2013 only works with Aerosoft's A318/A319 and none other plane. How do you 'connect' PMDG's B777 and B747 with MT 2013?     I'm still learning these more advanced planes and systems.

Thanks.

No connection required.

Make sure you configure TCAS correctly (mode and tilt), and that there is sufficient AI traffic enabled in FSX (two checkboxes and two sliders, controlling airliner and GA traffic).

Mind that TCAS does not show every traffic, but only "interfering" traffic (intruders, approximate traffic, conflicting traffic). And pls. also note that different developers use different techniques and algorithms to reflect the workings of a real-world TCAS (PMDG having had very precise TCAS algorithms for years).

So different findings between airplanes are possible, even under the same conditions.

For a test, most PMDG planes have an option for "show all traffic" - not realistic, but may be useful for troubleshooting.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that doesn't work well with PMDG planes is Shockwave lights.  This really isn't the fault of Shockwave in so much a limitation of how wing lighting on flexing wings is done in FSX.  Which kind of sucks because shockwave lights are beautiful.  You can still use them for the other non-moving lights though.

The only other bug I encountered was with the original Accu-sim and the MD-11.  It would "bug out" and the plane would "stutter" in flight.  Was really weird to see but it wasn't something that happened often.

I have had no issues what so ever using multple add-ons. I use ASN, Radar Contact, Ulitmate Traffic 2, my Va ACARS, PFPX, REX textures etc. No issues.
