Radar Contact Prepar3d - not saving RCD files

Featured Replies

I've checked location folder.

Every P3d save just gives me two files wc and the fltm (I need to copy and change to flt).

No RCD files anywhere!

Can someone tell me what I'm missing please?

Thanks. Dean

Dean. There is an answered topic on the same subject just below this one. Have you tried that solution?

Neither Ron or I have P3D so if you're struggling contact JD using his email in the locked topic at the top of the forum.

Thanks Ray

I had seen that and tried it.

I've re selected the folder as advised.

I checked the folder wasn't protected in any way.

Ran a fresh flight. Saved it.

Lo and behold test.fxm and test.wx.

Not a single RCD file in sight.

I've searched computer and can find any RCD's.

If no one else clarifies later I'll email JD

Thanks again. As a new user of RC it has taken me to a whole new level. Very happy but lots to learn.

Dean, what version of FSUIPC4 are you running? I have the paid version and it autosaves flights every 5 minutes and that includes an rcd file. But they should still be saved even with the free one (I think).

Mine are saved to My Documents\Flight Simulator X. I assume you will have an equivalent P3D folder.

Dean:  Don't know if this helps with your setup, but Ron posted to check the .FLT/WX Path button on the Radar Contact screen.  Click it and show RC where to put the .rcd file.  Ron said to do that each time just to be sure.  Worked for me.  John

You should know anyway that for the latest P3Ds RC4 can not feed the .fxm file to P3D for loading a P3D saved flight for RC. You can try copying (duplicating) the .fxm file to your flight folder renaming the copy from .fxm to .flt just so RC has a "dummy" name to see with an appropriate file length.

See if that works and let us know.

Check this forum for a P3D work around with a beta version of FSUIPC4 link to handle that.

Thanks Ronzie

I downloaded the latest FSUIPC - 4937d (from memory) and wow!

I now have RCD files on FSUIPC autosave and following P3d saves.

All neatly lined up in Mydocuments/p3dv2 folder.

Many thank for your help and of course to Pete Dowson.

Cheers

That's good to hear, but can you load and execute the saved files from RC4 so P3D starts at the

saved aircraft state?

Hi Ronzie

Unfortunately this has not worked - both Radar Contact and P3d hang.

I had a RCD.

I copied and renamed the related .fxml file to .flt

I loaded P3d with the same aircraft running at another location.

I launched Radar Contact and then reloaded the previous RCD file.

Blue progress dots went 95% across.

P3d opened a small window at top of the screen and said it was 100% loaded.

Then it all stopped.

I've tried several times and have rebooted Windows (8).

The event viewer I normally use showed nothing.  No error messages.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks

Dean

I think I sorted this.

What I originally said - 'I loaded P3d with the same aircraft running at another location and then reloading RCD crashed it!'

What I think I should have done was:

1  Copy the fxml file and rename the copy to flt.

1  Reload the flight using 'Load' (the fxml file) in P3d.

2  Pause the flight in P3d.

3  Load the RCD in Radar Contact..

Seems to work. Can someone confirm please?

Thanks  Dean
