Pet Peeves

Featured Replies

Found it....I knew this post must be somewhere deep down there... :-)I gotta get this of my chest. It's been annoying me for quite a while now!My pet peeves are two fold and they are both related to forum behaviour!1. WHY DON'T PEOPLE REPLY TO THE RIGHT POST? More and more often I see people resdonded verbally to some post in the middle of the thread but they have replied to the last post... I mean we have a sofisticated forum software here that keeps track of who we replies to in a neat threaded view. Use it! 2. WHY DO PEOPLE ASK UNRELATED QUESTIONS IN THREADS. If you have a question and you don't find a thread that specifically deals with this issue already. Start a new one! Do not reply to a thread that might seem to be similar. Or even worse. DOn't reply to a totally off-topic thread!Ahhh... That's much better... ;-)Thanks for listening,

Never knowing if a problem ever got fixed--Someone has a problem and posts a desperate plea for help -this generates a load of helpfull(?) replies - but the original poster never comes back to tell us which(if any) of the offered cures worked.Dave

>So then I open up IE, go to this website, and>walah it works. ARGH!!Fred, I absolutely HATE when people can't spell "voila..." :)I also cringe when I see such egregious grammar as "Me and my friend..."Several years ago I was scandalized horribly by a gentleman, who was purportedly the head of the English Honors Program for the entire Chicago School District, committing this very error during an interview on a local TV news magazine...The interviewer commented rather dryly, "If that is your idea of proper grammar, then it is no wonder that our students speak so poorly!"By the way, I agree with your assesment of 'MS-Centric' websites... :(

People that reply to every screen shot posting with "Great Shot" Or whatever, just to boost their post count, drives me wacko!:(

What I really hate is the "proud customer" signature banners. First you pay a company for the product, and then you give them free advertising afterwards. What is there to be proud of? Is there really any need to tie your online identity to the use of a certain make of addon, does it make you any more interesting or knowledgeable? It extends to the offline world as well, clothing with the manufacturers name on huge labels just make me puke.-

All of the above, especially sigs that most of the time take up more space than the response. I block all the graphical ones, but I'm stuck with the textual ones, most of which give a run-down of their computer specs. Who cares? Also, those that rave (and use a bunch of exclamation points, same with question marks) about a new aircraft, add-on, whatever, and don't leave a link to them.

Pet Peeve... this is EASY.Political posts of any kind in an aviation or FS newsgroup or Forum. The usenet is FULL of political junk from both sides of the aisle. I also hate porno posts in these newsgroups.Eric
