Only 11,000 sq km's :( I was under the impression that this would be a large-scale scenery. I just get a 404 when I click the Store link so I guess it isn't quite ready yet. Still it does look good so if it's reasonably cheap I'll probably buy it.

Yes apparently there will be four volumes and just over 40k sq km's in total. Still kind of small-ish for a photographic scenery especially one covering the "big empty". Would've prefered a DVD release with 40,000 sq miles/100,000 sq km's or more. The order page works now so they have my money. I don't have a download link as of yet though.edit: got the download link now. The download is big and the server is kind of slow so it will take a while. Keep an eye on the screenshots forum in the coming day ;)

I am just wondering about conflicts with Flight 1 Ultimate Terrain and if they are even compatible.

Hi John,Richard and I are working on a patch for his Alaska Cinematic, which will resolve the current issues with Ultimate Terrain (a few raised lakes and flattened shorelines). In general though, the two products are fully compatible. For example, with the combination of UT and AC, Anchorage now has both photorealistic terrain and 3D night lights, as the screenshots below show.Cheers, Holger http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116768.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116769.jpg

So has anybody else downloaded it?Victor

Many thanks.Victor

How many airports are there to fly to in the coverage area?

Sorry, but $23.92 USD for only one portion of one state is not exactly what I would call value, in my opinion...Pound to Dollar converted from here:http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.htmlThat's only $95.68 for the State of Alaska. (BTW - There are 50 States in the United States, so you can do the Math..) Well, that may not be as bad as $29 for one island, in my opinion. :-lol :-lol"To Each His Own, and I Choose NOT TO OWN"Regards,Joeaopa.gif" border="0" alt="Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

I don't plan on getting it because my PC can't handle the photographic sceneries. I just uninstalled Megascenery PNW today after getting frustrated with having to pause frequently during a flight just for the textures to become clear and not blurry. (AMD 2600, Radeon 9800 128mb, 768mb's PC2700, 7600RPM 8mb Cache 160GB HD)They do look cool, but I prefer the vector sceneries that edit the coastlines, add the real roads, adjust landclass etc. for a more realistic look, they don't cause much of a hit on the system at all - examples are Misty Fjords and Ultimate Terrain. This looks like a cool project - just not for me. I greatly look forward to the next Georender though!

It's not surprising really that as level of detail goes up, so does the price, while the coverage area goes down. It's just not possible to create and store an entire state or country with the same level of detail as is possible for a small region. With photoreal sceneries you don't need a whole state or country because every square mile is unique. Even a small area like the 11,000 sq km Alaska scenery is enough to give you many months of new discoveries. As for performance - I was running Megascenery Norcal, VFR England and Wales and Swiss Pro on an overclocked XP 2400+, Radeon 9700 Pro and 512MB RAM without problems (loading in 1.5 minutes and no blurries even with the FSD Navajo). Did you read the suggestions in the Megascenery manual? Also register to receive the PDF document from PC Aviator that includes many more tweaks to improve performance.

Howdy,"To Each His Own, and I Choose NOT TO OWN"Let's see...Richard Goldstein has given the community countless hours of enjoyment with his Emma Field, Georender series, and now Alaska Cinematic add-ons.Joe "Sonar5" has given the FS community countless repetitions of "I'm not going to buy this or that" posts as well as general negativity. To each his own legacy, I guess :-rollCheers, Holger
