777 for FSX_SE: Your registry does not show a valid FSX installation location

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've downloaded the full PMDG 777-200LRF Base Package.exe today and have just installed FSX SE. When I run the installer I receive:

Your registry does not show a valid FSX installation location

(Windows 8.1 64bit)

Am I missing something obvious?

Many thanks for any help

try this

change name in the registry from "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator - Steam Edition" to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator"

run the installer. after finish install change back the key name to the original one.

Did you use the Flight1 registry repair tool to make the FSX steam version the primary flight sim?  My PMDG 777 works well in steam after I downloaded the new 777 version this morning.

See Robert's pinned post in General forum regarding exactly this problem.

Resolved!

You must simply run up FSX once first. This action must populate the requisite registry entries.

Thanks,

Tim

Gents-

Check the main forum for my post regarding FSX:SE installation issues.  I think that will cure the problem without you having to manually edit your registry...

Works for me, thank you. Although make sure you run the tool as admin otherwise it will not work. I spent an hour trying to figue it out too before running as admin and then it worked.
