February 6, 201511 yr Rob, just curious but can we expect 2.5 soon as in this month soon? Yes ... very soon if all goes well. I wonder if its possible to add 2.4 installed add-on airports to the fresh 2.5 installation without reinstalling each one by one. Any thoughts on that? Yes, but I'm not going to go down that road again ... too many people had too many issues. Frankly, IMHO, it would be simpler to just reinstall them all - that way, you know they are installed properly and you probably won't have mucked up anything else. Absolutely agree Vic. Cheers, Rob.
February 6, 201511 yr So Rob, I assume that using your previous guide (for v2.3 and 2.4) it might work? I understand I'll do it on my own risk, I just want an opinion.
February 6, 201511 yr Parts of it will work, parts of it will not work. I can understand folks desire for a patch process and I sympathize that one will not exist ... but there are just too many variances with everyone's environments for me to "try" and go down the patch process again. It really will be best to start from scratch ... that way any resulting issues will go to the appropriate 3rd party. Also, many 3rd party will need to release updates specific to v2.5 changes so one will need to wait for that to happen regardless. Cheers, Rob.
February 7, 201511 yr Author Yes ... very soon if all goes well. Excellent! I'll hold out then since 2.5 requires a fresh install. Don't want to go through installing and setting up twice. Looking forward to P3D 2.5! Cheers, Aaron Aaron
February 7, 201511 yr Probably I will rename my current v2.4 install and then uninstall P3D. Then a fresh v2.5 install. Photoscenery can be added in the library. Other 3D scenery is trying to reinstall it. Aircraft the same. If that doesn't work I will try to add them from out of v2.4. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
February 8, 201511 yr LM have confirmed that v2.5 "no patch" will be a one off just for v2.5 ... so future versions will have patches. I didn't realize this was the case until today, but just an FYI in case folks didn't know already. Cheers, Rob.
February 8, 201511 yr Rob do you know if v2.5 will be the last p3d v2 update? Some addons like AES from aerosoft needs a "closed" version (no more updates), would be good to know when LM will stop the v2 development. Regards
February 8, 201511 yr If LM changes folder structure in v2.5, then our good old, migration tool may not be useful anymore...? Regards, Suvo A firm landing in the TDZ is a good one, a smooth landing outside the TDZ is bad. A smooth touchdown is NOT the criterion for a safe landing
February 8, 201511 yr If LM changes folder structure in v2.5, then our good old, migration tool may not be useful anymore...? Migration tool will be updated as it has been I the past but good question Rich Sennett
February 8, 201511 yr Some addons like AES from aerosoft needs a "closed" version (no more updates), would be good to know when LM will stop the v2 development. AES issue has nothing to do with having a "closed" P3D version. Why would LM want to stop developing P3D? Aerosoft are making products for XP10.x and LR have no intention of "closing" XP10. I doubt Aerosoft would expect LM or LR to stop making updates just so they can code for a fixed version number ... that's basically telling LM or LR to go out of business. Anyway, the issue with AES as I understand it is a coding challenge for Aerosoft ... it's up to Aerosoft to decide if and when they want to embark on that challenge -- if there is no way for them to recover the development costs then they probably will not embark on the challenge of changing AES for P3D ... P3D market share will of course have an influence on Aroesoft's decision. Cheers, Rob Migration tool will be updated as it has been I the past Hey Rich master artist and aircraft painters ... good to see you back ... you working PMDG paints for P3D? Cheers, Rob.
February 8, 201511 yr Hey Rich master artist and aircraft painters ... good to see you back ... you working PMDG paints for P3D? Cheers, Rob. Hi YAH Rob - been busy 3d modeling aircraft - very time consuming - fsx paints are the same thing so no need for P3D specific paints - hope all is well buddy Rich Sennett
