I now finally and fully know...where the future of Flight Simulation lays!

flight modeling is arguably better on well-made aircraft,

I've disagreed with this..................all of these years. Still do.  I don't find X-Plane as having superior flight dynamics over some of the best I use, for the competition.

My plan for my new rig, was to use both X-Plane and FSX. That's exactly what I'm doing.  I'd be missing out on a lot of the WOW factor, and immersion, if I just settled for one. There is no reason not too.

  • Guys, you should be posting these shots in the screenshots forum as well. We all know how good X-Plane is here with just freeware , so get posting in the screenshots forum and get some more P3D

  • I don't qualify as I have used flight sims since FS5.0 in 1994 (OMG, I'm getting old ). But I do fly "for real", am IR, and am new to XPX, having owned many sims in the past (mainly versions of MS

  • I agree with you...but I still can NOT understand why one would simply NOT purchase a copy of XPlane, and have it also, as an option to 'pull back the throttle, when one wants to...'   I read that FSX

Comparison of flight dynamics has been cussed and discussed many times in these forums.  One of the best comparisons was a pilot who tested several Cessnas (both default and custom payware) and found the stall dynamics far more realistic in XP - wing drop, etc. - where FSX just noses over which doesn't happen in real aircraft.  Ground performance with crosswinds is also more reaistic in XP while barely noticable in FSX.

Someday, I'll get some of my old FSX add-ons installed if I can find the old purchase order numbers, registration numbers and all the installers that are needed.  In the meantime, XP is up and running in a heartbeat by simply dragging files.

I'm not saying XP is "better" than FSX.  I'm saying it has a lot of advantages over FSX, not the least of which is the very active freeware community to offset the advantages that FSX still has over XP (rudimentary ATC and seasons and lots more payware - for now).  But FSX is dying as a 32-bit app in a 64-bit world.

It's not without its warts, but then again, neither is any other flight sim.

"Hallelujah, Brother!"  The above statement is definitive.
