I’ve been reading the forum almost on a daily bases, but that’s about it.

 

I have not been flying since my last post. I’ve started it up a couple of times to see that it is still working, but that all.

 

I’m in the second stage of my treatment and have 4 more weeks to go, and then it’s just a matter of recovery.

 

When I do return I know I have a problem to take care of, will probably need help with!

 

I’m running Flight Toolkit 1.023.0, and when I tried to upgrade to a newer one, I can’t do it. (I think I saved about all of them), the last one I have is 1.1.6. I just ran it and this is what happens, I hit run, and I have my Norton screen come up called “Download Insight” flighttoolkit_1_1_6. Exe (Downloaded from Unknown) and I have 3 options:  1. Stop this program from running 2. Remove this file from system (recommended) 3. (This is the one I select) Run this program anyway.

 

“The Flight Toolkit Setup” window comes up, I check, I agree, and click install, User Account Control window comes up and I click yes, and the Flight Toolkit Setup window opens up and the Processing: indicator goes about 2/3 of the way then stops. At this time a Run DLL window opens up and says  “There was a problem starting C:\Windows\Installer\MSI6D16.tmp, Access is denied” I click OK and the Flight Toolkit Setup window Processing: completes and the window states that Setup Failed, there is a log file I can click on, and below that is “0x80070643 - Fatal error during installation.:” I saved the log file in notepad. So this is my dilemma.

there should be another log file in the same folder as the one that is linked from the installer. Attached that logbhere or email it to me at [email protected]

Looks like it can't find the DLC location for some reason. I'll have to take a look at the code later today to see why that might be.

Can you look for this registry key and see what the value is?

Following this path, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\XLive\E00001FD68897F39 is what I am seeing.
I do not have a "\DLCBasePath"?

DLCBasePath would be a value that shows up on the right side when you select XLIve, sorry for not being more clear.

Hello Jack,

Hmmm... there seems to be no problem with your DLC path. It's most likely to do with Norton acting up and deleting files whilst keeping registry values and "locking" up the "Temp" folder.

I did have Norton before and it was a pain since it blocked everything and put it into quarantine. It sometimes does this with installers but I'm pretty sure that the Flight Toolkit doesn't contain viruses!

I have put together some steps for you to follow, bear in mind that if Steve has any suggestions, it must be prioritised.

• Completely disable Norton 360 by going to the TaskBar. Right click on the Norton logo and "Disable Antivirus-Auto Protect"
• Download the installer again and try running it. If the problem still occurs goto Step 3
• Check that you have access to your "C:\Windows\Temp" folder by right clicking the folder. Go to the security tab and make sure that "Administrators" has full control.

If the third step doesn't resolve the problem, then inform us and I'll give you some further instructions.

Ahh good point Kavinda, my code tries to create a directory and that could have been failing without an error message.

 

If his steps don't work, then try manually creating this path and running the installer again:

C:\User\J. R's\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Xlive\DLC\4d5308d2\00000002

@ KavindJD, per step 1. I did that and reran my downloaded copy, of 1.1.6 and it loaded with no problems. The window pop up asking which version I wanted to run. I'll always remember this one. Thanks again!     :im Not Worthy:
