Payware light twin opinions--C310 vs. Seneca

Featured Replies

I've got a pretty good selection of planes in my FS2004 folder (to the tune of 15+ GB compressed, 25+ GB uncompressed!), but I realized recently that the one piece of payware I don't have is a light piston twin in the Baron 58 class. I've got the FSD Piper Navajo Panther, which is one great piece of work and I love it, but it's a bit bigger than the Baron. Then I took a look at the Dreamfleet Cessna 310L and the FSD Piper Seneca V. They both look nice, the C310 looks like it's a very interesting bird because it's more "vintage" (plus it just *looks* fast as heck), but I'm curious how the package holds up considering that it's been out for quite a while. I have Dreamfleet's C177, and it's very good, but starting to show its age a bit compared to modern releases like the Bonanza A36, Flight One C172, or the RealAir SF.260.So, any opinions between those two planes, or any other light twins on the horizon? Or should I just stick to my tried-and-true old Milton Shupe Aero Commanders and Shrike Commander, and plow the money into something else? :)Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia

Although it's not in the Baron class, you may want to wait for FSD's 337. The 337 is so unique, and I still seem them flying today--most recently when I flew into Santa Ana. Both choices you list are great ones--either the 310 or the Seneca given their authors, you simply can't go wrong. If I were choosing between the two I would probably opt for the 310 just because the real 310's have always looked more interesting to me.-John

I concur with John here, The Cessna Skymaster is one awesome aircraft in real life and is one I've been looking forward to getting once released.Head over to FSD and check out their screenshots, but I have no Idea when it may be released. Owen jumped over to df, but I think he has stated his work was done on it, so hopefully it won't be too long.Jim has stated on the forum the following but without dates:From:http://www.fsd-international.com/dc/dcboar...g_id=7193&page="So here is the tentative order of AC to be released:1. Cessna 3372. Jetstar3. Mistsubishi Marquise4. Hawker 125 (yes you read right Hawker 125)"The Mitsubishi is also a twin, so you will have a couple of newer choices instead of dated releases.Regards,Joeaopa.gif" border="0" alt="Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

I have both... and like them both. To me, the 310 feels more convincing in the way the cockpit is depicted.. but, the Seneca handles better.A workaround that I deploy, is to fly the 310 with the tip tanks empty..Having said all that... I still like flying the Flight1 Cessna 421 and 441 better. The 421 is a true classic, handles great, looks great , great cockpit. The 441 has a super high resolution cockpit, very nice if you fly at 1280x960 or higher.. and is great to fly with its powerful turboprop engines. Attached a cockpit shot of the 421 and the 441 with the Reality XP Jetline EADI and EHSI added..http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/118601.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/118602.jpg

If you have some patience, Aeroworx is making a Baron. If the quality of their King Air is anything to go by it should be a classic. -

I have the Seneca V and love it, but I agree with the poster above. If you can wait, the Aeroworx Baron 58 is sure to be a winner.Jim

I'm sure with the time its taken them to put out a patch for their B200 it will be another 5 years before their baron.LOLJust kidding.Sean
