Thinking of buying

Featured Replies

Im on the lookout for a good p3d bizjet and after posting in the general forum some recommended this aircraft.  In all honesty ive never really taken carenado that seriously due to the fact that their simulations in the past have not been super accurate.  Im not into "lite systems", even the aerosoft airbus is too light for me.  And for the price of this airplane I would expect it to be very detailed.  After watching some videos and reading the forums it seems this ac has potential after the last two sp's but I still have some questions.

1. How accurate are the systems simulations?  (pressurization, fuel, engines, etc.)  For example i don't want an aircraft where all the lights work even though the electrical systems are off.

2. Are emergency systems simulated?  Is there any sort of engine wear or failure simulation?

3.  Ive read the threads about the lackluster fms and integrating the gtn 750/650, but I am still confused.  How does this work?  Does it show up in the vc, is it fully functional, and does it interact with the carenado autopilot and systems?

4.  What isn't simulated?

I know its a lot of detailed questions but as carenado has no trial offered I would like to have the facts before purchasing.  I really appreciate any help.

Mike, this is a "lite" simulation, so that may not work for you.

The Flight1 GTN750 on the other hand is completely real to life, so navigation with it, is first class.

It is a user modification - so no "out of the box" integration (as yet..)

If the Aerosoft Airbus doesn't do it for you, this one has ZERO chance. What systems there are range from flipping the switch or turning the knob. No action = reaction kind of stuff. The gear and flaps work correctly, most lights work correctly. The Carenado S550 has terrific ramp presence, is fun to fly and as stable as a table.

I was out shooting approaches all day today. Some using the GTN750, some using the Sperry SPZ-500. All were predictable, accurate and enjoyable.

With a lot of the community provided fixes and improvements it is a fine aircraft but it will never be described as one with any 'systems depth'. No wear and tear or failures in this one either.

I think you would be very disappointed if you are looking for A2A or RealAir levels from Carenado. They are steadily improving but there is something more than a large gap between where they are and the A2A and RealAir and Flight1 type add ons. More like a chasm.

I enjoy this one immensely. More and more each day actually, but then I know the limitations.

Darn was hoping this one would be better, its just so pretty!  Anyway if I were to get past some of the lack of systems, would the gtn750 mod interface with the auto flight systems on the aircraft?

Seriously thinking of getting this despite saying "never again" a while back.

I note that the mods available are for the GTN or ISG suites, I don't have either and am perfectly happy with the default navigation functions.  Are the autopilot and system mods available for the vanilla S550,  indeed are they necessary after SP2?
