B727 - which one to install?

Featured Replies

A question about B727. We have nowadays many options. Flight1 payware? Vans 727? Vistaliner?Vistaliner 727 is the only one I have. What the new Vans 727 has what the Vistaliner don

Get the Dreamfleet 727 - its more or less perfect in every way!:-)Ray Keattch

I concur...the Dreamfleet 727 is simply outstanding. Well worth the money. If you can't afford it or want to go freeware, then the Vistaliners 727, mated to the excellent latest 727 panel by Richard Probst, is a great choice.Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia

Good Morning,If you are interested in a 727 flying in FS the way a 'real' 727 flies in real life, (keeping in mind FS's limitations), then the DF 727 is the ONLY way to go.If you stay with freeware, then you have two options: Vistaliners or VANS.Erick Cantu's Vistaliners 727 is supurb for a freeware model, and mated with RP's 727 panel, is very hard to beat. A most nice combination. The VANS 727 has some really nice touches, like the freighter freight trolly and airstairs and fuel truck . . . and the airliners food service truck, fuel truck and baggage loading ramps . . . really nice, however the flight model leaves a ton to be desired. VANS needs to do some homework on the stall speed of 727's with 1/2 fuel, 180kts and 30 flaps, (40 flaps are rarely used in the real world), on approach, they generally don't fall out of the sky at that speed.Just my .06cents worth, but having a ton of real time in real 727's, I do have a slight idea of what I am talking about.Best to all, Clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. I agree with Clay - the Vistaliners 727 is wicked! Im having an absolute ball with it. The visual model is a screamer & theres a couple of nice panels too (as is mentioned above)But yes...if you want the whole hog you will have to go the payware route!:)---------------PS: Clay..you wil probably know more about this. I recall a long time ago that they were proposing to re-engine the 727 with two RR turbofans? Would have been interesting to see that. I guess it fell through though!

I Think your down to 2 options ... Dreamfleet for payware and Eric Cantu's Vistaliners 727 with the Richard Probts Tinmouse 727 panel

Whilst I of course think he's down to only one option ;-)

Get the Dreamfleet 727. It's my favorite airliner. The FMC "push button" planes are alright, but there's something about the DF offering that keeps me coming back. Highly recommended.

how is the DF727 vs. the CS727?whats better whats worse?

There is no comparison between the DF 727 and the CS 727. The CS 727 was great for its day, but that was years ago. And they've stopped supporting it, or at least have shut down the forums and you have to send an email if you have a question. All of the knowledge base has disappeared. The DF 727 is another story. It's one of my top 3 and has been since it came out. You can use it for short hops or longer flights and the realism is something else. Wonderful job all around of a 3rd party aircraft addon for FS9. Do a search on it and you'll find thousands of posts with very little, if any, negative feedback. billg

Hello All, Broken record time here again. If, you desire an aircraft which flies as close to the real thing within the limitations of FS and don't mind payware, then the DF727 is the only choice. Quite simply, it works, works well, is a pleasure to fly and it does most everything right! Yes, I was a beta tester, and if it wasn't right, I'd still be screaming at Paul . . . "it doesn't fly right yet,", but I don't have to worry about that as this aircraft is tops.On Freeware, Erics Vistaliner is pretty good stuff for freeware -- quality all the way. Mated with RP's excellent 727 panel it is a most excellent choice for a freeware offering. Erick probably does need to update his and add the hushkits, but other than a few minor items, it doesn't get much better for freeware!VANS. A nice try, but no cigar. I love the cargo freight trolly, airstairs, fuel truck . . .and on the passenger model, the baggage ramps, food service truck and fuel truck. Truly a nice touch, but if the designers think this is the 'perfect' 727, well, what ever medication they are on is affecting their judgement. The FM just doesn't get it. Could be a classic freeware offering if they cleaned up the aircraft a bit, and FIXED the horrible flight model.Just my not-so-humble .06 cents worth.Best to all,Clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Good to hear the update is coming along soon (drool)! The DF727 leaves others in the dust since it's the only add-on I know which was almost 100% perfect at release. There's no other, I repeat: no other! 727 add-on which could ever match the DF727 currently (and I guess it will stay this way for at least a long time). An absolute MUST!Andreas
