June 16, 200520 yr I wnat to really try myself out using the Antonov AN14 -- it is claimed that it can be landed in less than 400 feet, but I can't find a short runway anywhere.I have landed it in what appears to be a very short distance - but it is deceiving in the Sim.Thanks Barry
June 16, 200520 yr I think there's a very short one on Portland Bill, UK, but I'll check next time I go simming. John
June 16, 200520 yr Try to land in Munich EDDM, the Runways are 700ft long and 13000ft width in my AFCAD :-)No :DMy tip is SABA 1300ft long but unfortunately closed!Interessting with a good mesh ;)
June 16, 200520 yr Recently, I did "airport hopping" with a freeware DHC-3 Super Otter: repeated starting and landing at the same airport, using only the small areas where taxiways intersect - THAT's short runways ;-)Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. June 17, 200520 yr Look up 'Doherty's Difficult and Dangerous Approaches' available within the library for REAL landing challenges. They will keep you going for months!Dave T. .........On the lovely warm Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/ Dave Taylor
June 17, 200520 yr Easy. Go to Anchorage, Alaska and look to the ENE. There are what feels sometimes like hundreds of them, some harder to land on than others but many are very short.Andrew Brownhttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
June 17, 200520 yr What about starting from Helipads? :-)Christianhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/chrismo/sigsky.jpgVacation: wasted time between 2 flights!
June 17, 200520 yr As a previous poster stated, Saba, near St. Maarten's. There is a freeware mesh for the airport available that you'll need because the default terrain depicts it as a pancake when in fact the island is almost all mountain. I believe it's the shortest runway with a regular commercial service. STOL only!!!
June 18, 200520 yr Try out Courcheval in the Swiss Alps in France. High Alt STOl a/c need only apply.See my post on it.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchDaniel
June 18, 200520 yr Saba is open to pilots with special clearance from authorities, apply to the Netherlands Antilles department of transportation.
