June 18, 200520 yr is there a way to make the FS world more vibrant. Its just that it doesnt capture the escence of a lovely day. Its just so grey and dull even on a midsummers hot sunny day. theres probably some payware programs but im appreciate some freeware as i dont really have money at the moment to spend on flightsim. also is there a way i can make the ground more buzzing and green instead of the dull grey brown colour?
June 18, 200520 yr Here is a very low tech approach, but one that helps the situation. Turn off any overhead lights. Keep just one very low wattage light in the room turned on so that you can see your keyboard. One other hardware solution that I have been thinking about, is buying one of the new flatscreen LCD monitors. I think they make images appear brighter.Good Luck.
June 18, 200520 yr If you have an Nvidia card, the drivers allow you to adjust color, gamma etc.. you will see a big difference with that.I am not at my machine, but if you need any help, post back here and I will look when I get a chance. Best regards, Jeff
June 18, 200520 yr ya i do have a nVIDIA card, so cud ya help me with that Jeff? I think i know what to do (going to properties -> advanced) but im not sure.
June 18, 200520 yr Search for colorized textures in the library here by steve kempfthey will brighten things up for you
June 18, 200520 yr The situation is just about reversed. The colors in FS are too vibrant and too saturated. I suggest you take a look flying next time how atmospheric thickness caues all colors to be slightly dulled. That's why BlueSphere (freeware) created their own set of ground textures that reflect this reality. You can get BlueSphere from Avsim library.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
June 18, 200520 yr Solution: fly X-Plane for a half hour. You will then think that FS9 world is brilliant!X-Plane world is absolutely gloomy compared to FS9.
June 18, 200520 yr hehe i agree. My sisters boyfriend has X-plane and whenever i go to my sisters house we normally have a quick flight on it, though its not crap, i certainly long for fs after about 15 mins.ya i have heard about blue sphere before, i did download the package berfore once, im just reluctant too as ive got john CI's super horizon textures installed so i dont wanna muck anything up (i love those files so much :))
June 19, 200520 yr Hey Will, The following depends on the card and drivers being used. OK, here ya go....Right click on desktop, Properties, click settings tab, click advanced tab, at this point, you should see your GeForce card tab at the top. Mine says GeForce6800 GT. If that is there, then click that. On the left there should be a menu. In that menu click color correction. then you will see options to the right. Digital Vibrance, Brightness, etc... If you change anything, just click apply, and there you go. I would note your original settings first. Let us know how you make out. I use Win2000pro, so your appearance of things may be different. Look at everyone's advice here also as there is alot of options for you of course. I hope this helped, and sorry for taking so long to reply. Best regards, Jeff

I had a 22" I used for about four years go south on me,FS always seemed like you described, way to dark even at high noon.So..dragged out the old 17" I used to use and bam! FS was bright as could be.I really hadn't noticed how much my 22 monitor had darkened over the years. If you have an older monitor that might be your problem. See if you can install FS on a different computer and see how it looks on that monitor.David
June 22, 200520 yr Author Stop using FS2k2 and buy FS-10.If your not in the northern hemisphere at the moment, select Summer and you should have all the colours you want?If that dosen't work, get a new monitor, the pixelization on yours is worn out.Dave T. .........On the lovely warm Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/ Dave Taylor
