Detailed UK scenery for testing

Featured Replies

Hi Tony,

I've got things up and running this evening, it took a bit of sorting, being a newby to XPlane. However, flying your software with Flight 1 photoscenery is out of this world or rather, it is this world in every splendid detail. You should be well pleased, I know I am!

Thank you so much - Phil

Great job, Tony.

If anyone wants a video to see what this looks like, I created one as part of my X-Plane 10 Scenery series :

Thanks for the great video Derek, and I'm a big fan of the Bell 407 :-), and I still can never get the landing right (I do exactly the same as you in this video most of the time, slow down too early) Just a couple of comments from the video:

- For lighter coloured roads more suitable for Europe, try this http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=25083

- For better framerates, I'd recommend turning down the maximum draw distance a notch.

- The stuttering I'm aware of and seems to happen when panning around. This has always been an issue with World2XPlane scenery and it seems to be actually related to the forests/trees instead of the buildings. If the scenery gets stuttery, try decreasing the number of trees in your settings. If I can isolate the problem to a very small scenery, then I'd be able to give Ben Supnik something to work off.

- I'd love to make UK style roads, but up to this point, AFAIK nobody has been able to make custom roads for XP10 as there isn't any updated documentation since XP9. I've tried but whatever I did causes the simulator to immediately crash without error.

A video of the area in which I fly (in RL) and live . I have called it Tony's Magic Wand because it really has transformed the whole experience. The front end of the video states what applications/airports/aircraft are in play, but I left out RTH which is in use. Also I am not using HDR as I am flying a fighter jet (freebie XPFR Alphajet A  - fabulous fun)  and wanted the highest framerate I could get. It's a bit of a roller coaster and I forget I have TIR on my head a couple of times  - sorry about that . FRAPS as always has led to a couple of stutters along with XP filling in the tiles at 400kts.

The video starts up above the clouds at dawn going East towards LIverpool, then dropping down crossing over The Wirral, heading back West with a low pass over EGGP, then over to North Wales with some medium and low flight levels which show how good the framerates can be (35 - 50 FPS) even at a lot of detail. Includes the Menai Straights, Snowdonia and landing at Mona (great litle airport) in Angelsey. The point was to show not only how the towns look but how great the forests, woods, copses and hedgedrows look. Most realism to date ever achieved in a home sim in my view.

The file is 1.4gb (it was 131Gb in the FRAPs format so you are not seeing the quailty that I see!) and it does not stream well from my One drive. It is recorded at 1080 but to get the benefit I would suggest that you download it - I tested it and with my internet setup it took 5 mins.

I hope you enjoy it - I know it's a bit long (get a cup of tea) but I was having too much fun!

My settings are below (only reason I haven't used Full Screen is that I run 3 x23" which does not make for a good recording experience). So recorded from one 23" screen.

Thanks for the video Peter, that must look amazing spread out over three monitors :-). You are getting pretty decent framerates over the Wirral considering the amount of buildings, on my system I get between 14-20fps depending on the plane I'm using, but even at lower settings it still looks good.

Hi Tony,

Is there any news of the forthcoming GB v2 at all yet please?

All best wishes
