Caution with Just Flight.

Today I got another unlock code. I WAS able to unlock the plane. It flies as expected however I only had a few minutes time to try it out . I would like to keep it on a disc this time, however there are files scattered all over. I am not sure how many times I can unlock it with this additional code or I would just save it to a file, then a disc if that works. While I am somewhat happy with the outcome here, I feel that I went through way to much trouble. I probably will not buy from Just Flight again.

at least you finnaly can fly your plane. As for keeping plane for future, maybe someone with this plane have a list of files instaled by this plane and can you help ..?For a future my advice is to get a nice programm called Total Uninstall, which you run before any install and it will give you a snapshot of your system before and after install, so you know exactly what was put in your disc and registry. I personally am using it for every install I do lately - it helps to keep system nice and lean when you do a lot of installing and uninstalling as I do.Take care.

I've purchased over a hundred (probably a lot more) payware titles and was disappointed with the support or other things in direct control of the publisher/creator (like quality, not talking about "liking the product" all but a very few times. That's roughly 95% satisfaction with the process (there were products which on use weren't for me, but that's not the fault of the publisher as they haven't yet devised a way for a company to determine remotely whether a particular customer will be satisfied with a product and then warn them if they find out he won't be).3 tries in many years isn't good statistics. If you were a student in a statistics class and used that as your dataset for an exam it'd be an immediate failure.

Thanks for the link. HOWEVER, here I go again. FS will not get past the splash screen now. It will freeze on the screen or it will just go black. In 15 attempts, it will load one or two times. I think I am ready to call it a loss and move on. Money out the window. I do have yet ANOTHER e-mail in to J.F. We will see. I am not holding my breath.

I spent a couple of hours working with the files installed with the plane. To make a looong story short, I found that if I take the "fsvmodjfm.dll" out of the flight sim modules folder and put it in a "hold" folder within the modules folder, the sim works very well. At least 20 times in a row. I will feel better about the fix in a couple of days. Mind you, J.F. says there has to be a computer problem as there is nothing wrong with the plane files. I think this is a security file of sorts but have not had time to confirm it with J.F. yet because of the weekend. My computer has a conflict with this file, but I see no problems with the computer as it worked VERY well before the plane load. Yes it is still W98se with a Radion 8500, 128 meg video card and an AMD 1000 processor, but I get very smooth flight simming with frame rates in the S.F. bay area of 18-29 consistantly. Cannot be too bad of a setup.

'Morning, Vernon. Glad to see you got a fix working for that package. Stay cool down there...Rick

Good to hear from you Rick. E-mail me sometime and let me know how you and the family are!

Update:Just Flight seems to be interested now in solving my file conflict as they are communicating with me regularly. That was all I wanted. I understand that there will be problems at times. I just wanted to know that they cared.

Just for the record, Just Flight has tried many weeks to get the Seneca to run on my system. No luck. They did offer to refund my money or apply it to another product. We have reached an agreement that I am very happy about. Once the support started, it was very friendly and timely. E-mail about every other day or so. I am still skittish about payware, but I DO feel better now.OH YEAH! I almost forgot! I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geiko! lol NOT!

I have purchased the Seneca, which is very well done, but had computer problems and used up the 3 downloads that the license allows. After conversing with their support, I got an e-mail saying that there was no help for me and I would have to pay the $3.95 for an extension of the license.(And they advised me to get my computer fixed. There was a conflict with their plane somehow. Not their fault, but they were involved.) This frustrated me somewhat and I let them know in a polite manner. Now, I have sent the money to extend my license and have not received any new unlocking codes or heard any replys from my communications in their forums or e-mails in 2 working days . They seem to have just dropped me. Got my money though. This is my FIRST payware as I have been so happy with the freeware that is out there, that I thought it a waste of money. Mind you, their Seneca is worth the money. But I will not buy payware again. You may have a different expierence with Just Flight. I just thought you should know of mine.Vernon
