FSX SE, PMDG 737 NGX

Hi,

At the time of the crash the file was simply deleted from the FSX SE root folder, as per the CTD guide instruction. More recently I have downloaded it again and it is now back in this location.

Cheers

Unfortunately,  Dovetail placed the uiautomationcore.dll into the main FSX-SE folder as many believe this is a fix for CTD's.  So the file came with the installation of FSX-SE and is probably required.  In FSX, it is not really required (for instance, I have never needed it).  It is needed for some FSX users though.  It only fixes one type of crash, FSX menu crashes where you right click at least 19 times in the FSX menu area.  I have tried to replicate this crash but no joy.

Future updates to the AVSIM CTD Guide will not suggest the uiautomationcore.dll be removed from the fsx-se folder.

In the AVSIM CTD Guide it was not my intent to have any files deleted but MOVED to a temporary folder or renamed so, if the "fix" did not work, you could simply move the file back to its original location.  For instance, a lot of crashes are fixed by moving the fsx.cfg, the fsx-se.cfg, or the p3d.cfg to a temporary folder, restarting the program and letting the program rebuild the respective file.  If this does not fix the problem, then you should move the appropriate config back into the respective folder.  Then you go to another suggestion, move the dll.xml to a temporary folder.  This file will not be rebuilt but is not needed to start up fsx, fsx-se, or p3d.  If this fixes the problem, then you will see that there is something wrong with the dll.xml.  You have then narrowed your problem down to one file.  Now you need to know which module in the file is not loading properly or is corrupted.  The AVSIM CTD Guide tells you how to disable each module, one by one until you find the one that causes the crash.

In most cases, there is no known magic bullet that will fix the crash.  You have to investigate and the AVSIM CTD Guide gives you that guidance.
