April 27, 201511 yr Hi guys, im new here. I wanted to learn a bit more abaut flying. I know how to put a cessna in the air, fly a pattern, landing etc but i dont know anything abaut navigation VOR/DME/ADF or meteorology/reading a metar/types of clouds. My goal is to fly more realistic. I mostly fly low and slow, but using the gps. I want to throw away it out of my plane Is the MS learning center good enough? Are there web sites you 'd recommend that are more "up to date"? Witch is the best way? Thanks in advance Cheers N.-

April 27, 201511 yr I found Genc Vadiku's Flight Simulator Tutorials and other videos on YouTube to be very helpful when learning: https://www.youtube.com/user/FSX404/playlists In particular this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7F70193E8AC5B873 Also the Angle of Attack Aviator90 series is pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6B902F3763B1A474 Here is a most excellent video on Aviation Weather: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gij4YbplY30 YouTube is a very good resource, look there for FSX GPS tutorials and other goodies. April 27, 201511 yr To me, joining Vatsim and a good virtual Airline (VA) made a huge difference in learning more about aviation. VAs often have some real pilots as members who are happy to discuss any detail you care about. I would suggest to join a VA that is also an authorized Vatsim training organization (ATO), see http://ptd.vatsim.net/atos . You do not necessarily have to fly online (at least with some ATO VAs), and it might be a good idea to stay off-line until you have learned enough for the next big step. However, an ATO usually has competent people and a lot of training material. Peter
